Golden Yellow Paint
the golden yellow paint on my walls
kind of reminds me of the sunset we used to watch together
so long ago
so very long ago

does the sun still set
over the long horizon that I still wonder about?
I used to imagine what was on the other side
and I still wonder

but I don’t want to find out without you

the walls are getting dusty

like a haze is growing over my memory

and it’s like the sun doesn’t set anymore

because you’re not here to watch it with me

take your pot of gold
that you’ve left in the corner where I’m sitting
watching the dust bunnies collecting on the golden yellow paint
that kind of reminds me of you

brushing my fingers along the gold pieces
and my clenched fist comes against the golden-yellow painted walls
that kind of remind me of your love

I sat staring at the sunset today

wondering if I ran as fast as I could
if I could put the sun out with my tears

so you’d see what you did to me
so long ago
so very long ago

(But then again, I don’t even know if you’ll be watching)
