Midnight Secrets
Prologue
The sun was hidden by dark gray clouds that were showering us not only with droplets of rain, but as well with repeated thunder and lightning. Now, to tell the truth, I'm not the biggest fan of storms. In fact, they flood me with bad memories from the past that I would appreciate to not be reminded of.
That particular morning, I had just been walking back home from school when the storm had started. Not that I didn't expect it. It had been raining on and off for the past few hours and the day had darkened even more after that, just as my mood had after I had been drenched wet in the matter of a few seconds.
That was when I first caught sight of her. Even from the distance, I could make out her bright green eyes. Her almost white, blond hair wet and sticking to her clothes. I could barely make out her face. Her head was hung low, as if she was ashamed of something. She kept her head low, slowly stepping forwards, nearing a small shop.
I came back to my senses then, shaking my head slowly but never taking my eyes off of her.
Go after her
I hesitated but found myself casually walking towards her the next moment. She seemed to hear my footsteps because her shoulders tensed and she lifted her head a bit. I paused in my walking, wondering if she knew me the same way I knew her. Suddenly, her head lifted up and her green eyes pierced into my own azure blue ones. A moment later, she broke the gaze and turned around running away into the night, as if she was scared. Only a few moments later, she had disappeared into the night.
