The Angel

The wings of white raise him

Higher and higher in

The never-ending sky.

I stare after him 'till

My eyes can see no more,

From gaping into the sun.

My mind is still reeling.

An angel saved me today.

Just a face in the street

At first, no more than that.

My life slowly moving,

So easy to observe.

Feel like tumbling backwards,

There his hand will catch and

Hold, so I can endure.

An angel saved me today.

He holds my hand so that

I can regain myself.

Into his eyes I stare.

Losing and finding me

Within his stormy eyes.

His smile clears my pain.

His grip calms my spirit.

An angel saved my life today.

For a moment we stand,

The world around us gone.

A tear falls from his cheek

With his one last smile

Outspreading his sheer wings,

Freeing me of his hold

He rises out of sight.

An angel saved me today

He will always be there,

And for this I pray.
