Desolate Road

Step gingerly past broken trees,
Make a path through the empty clay sand.
Leave behind broken memories,
And up ahead: Nothing

Fragments of what was once so dear
Fly by like tumbleweeds, at impossible speeds.
Kick them out of the way, they never mattered anyway.
And listen: The silence is defeaning.

Circles and cirles and lazy circles
Is it the past that's behind,
Or is the past being followed?
And never slow down: transparent

Broken bones by the side of the street,
Wow, that tree looks familiar.
Skeleton hands reaching out to rape,
And welcome: your desolate road.
