The Reawakening
by Siberia

Note: The result after an ugly feud with my parents.

My sanity is the prey on which She feasts
Foolish me, to think I could keep Her asleep
The Age of Restful Silence was far too brief
I see now that I will never know true peace

The Beast was born from Their discordant clatter
Piece by piece, my mind was served on Her platter
For a dozen years, She grew ever fatter
Until a pause entered into Their rancour

While She lay tranquilized, I built a great fence
Believing I could no longer be menaced
But when Their noise rose up like a crowd of hens
I learned too late that there can be no defense

Worming in my brain, She carves many a hole
Snatching the finest parts for Her supper bowl
The Demoness gnaws hungrily at my soul
And nothing stops Her from devouring me whole
