Hurry up and wait

I took a chance, and wore a skirt,

Did my hair and makeup.

Been rushing around all over town,

Almost from the time I did wake up.

Now I'm sitting here nervous,

From what I have no clue.

To talk to a perfect stranger,

Who will hopefully tell me what to do.

Like a horse, all revved to go, gets stopped at the starting gate;

I play that eternal game, of hurry up...and wait!
