How to Destroy Christianity

Reginald Fredericks

9.18.2007

Many may be wondering why I write such a title so freely and openly and, unknowing to the reader, so peacefully. Well, the main reason is because I have so much peace about what I am going to say that it may offend many of us that are Christian, especially non-Christians. The other is because once I’m done with my arguments I hope you will be able to see that one can place their confidence in the truth. What is truth you ask? I will address that shortly. For now, a mere introduction will have to soothe your curiosity into the topics that I am going to address. After all, many of you were probably led here by the title and believe it or not, that’s good! It’s my intention to bring you into a point where I want to speak to your conscience, as partially to your intellect, concerning something that is definitely interesting to you-destroying the Christian faith once and for all!! And guess what, I’m going to help you! Once I’m done, then you will have all that you need to destroy the Christian faith. But didn’t you say just previous how your goal was to help one place their hope in the truth? Of course. And I’m going to do that in a very unconventional way. Right now, this is only a portion of what’s to come later on, once I get the time. In the long run, I’m planning a more ambitious work to publish here online so that you will be able to read about seven topics that are the most attacked regarding Christianity. That work is currently in progress, but to serve as forerunner for that work, I am writing this to give all a taste as to what’s to come. In this small, brief (not many chapters if any) writing I am merely going to focus on how one can destroy the Christian faith simply without arguing. But rather, I’m going to tell you how to destroy us-Christians-from the face of the earth. Certainly, by now, I hope your mouth is watering and you are slapping your palms together in great anticipation of what you are about to hear. Rightly so. For those who are looking to destroy Christianity, you’ve come to the right place. But as always, it’s always best to start from the beginning. In doing so, I am going to wet your whistle with a little background information to the reason of why, as a Christian, I am writing a work laying out the condition (hint…hint) in which to destroy the very hope that I have? It doesn’t make any sense, right? Of course not. But what better person to tell you how to rid of a particular faith than that person in who’s faith is in that person (or object of faith). If you are a Christian reading this, please don’t freak out. But rather follow my arguments and you will see that I am merely encouraging you as well. Besides, if this works, then we’re all in trouble. But if you are solid in your faith and have an idea about the core of Christianity, then you’ll know where I’m coming from and why you don’t need to worry.

As I begin, I want to just share you with a small piece of my testimony (the whole thing can be read online -A1). I wasn’t raised in a Christian home, but my mother often spoke to me about Christ as a child. We were living in Columbus, Ohio at the time and I noticed how my mom got involved with a religious sect known as Jehovah’s Witnesses. My mom, almost convince and converted, met with them weekly; she even invited me to study along with them. I remember having a book of Bible stories that I often read from time to time. One day, she went to the kingdom hall…and she never returned there again. A simple thing that the JW’s did to her was the one major thing that easily costs her go elsewhere—to Christianity (note…JW religion is not Christianity; I will address this later, not necessarily in this text). Soon, she started attending a United Methodist Church some distance away from our home and eventually she was baptized. As time went on, she shared her faith with me as I grew up in rough schools and personal situations. At the age of fifteen, I developed a habit over the years of prayer and “general” reverence to God. That is, I had the knowledge that God existed and created the universe. He eventually sent Jesus down to earth to die on the cross to save mankind. But that was the foundation to which I understood the message. To me, it just made Jesus sound like some unwanted superhero who suffered a misfortune because people didn’t like Him due to Him being so different. And that was the issue for me, I was different and people didn’t seem to like me. They’d talk about me, mock me, and even tried challenging me (fighting, provoking me to anger, etc) and I didn’t understand why this was happening. So, I felt that as I knew more about this Jesus I could identify with Him as someone who went through something like me. But that’s about it. So, at fifteen, having this knowledge, I continued to function as I normally would any other day. I cursed, dishonored my parents (that includes muttering under your breath talking back to your parents), and certainly I cherished lusting after girls (that was my favorite). One night, though, I had a strange dream that shook my world and left me in peril. I didn’t think I was going to wake up but would be tossed away in the flames to burn forever! But I did wake up later and told my mom about the dream. Some months later, I did have another one, but it was soon after that, that my mom found a church. I went with her there and told the pastor everything that was happening, during a Thursday night meeting with the pastor. It was on that night, August 6, 1998, that I surrendered all to the Savior. I was sixteen when that happened, as my birthday is in June.

So, what’s the point I’m making with my story? Nothing. It’s my story that I share with you because it serves as a background to what I will go into much later. One thing a person can do is refute education and even deny or suppress truths and opinions, but a person will not deny another person’s experience. Meaning this, I can’t say that what you experience was wrong or “no, that’s not what happened because of this…” So, consider this as the tone is set for this subject matter, you might be able to deny all evidence that is put before you (or suppress it) when the truth is presented, but you cannot refute another person’s experience with anything. Rather, you can examine what the truth is in light of the experience so that you u will gain what is necessary from the experience for maturity. With that said, I will tell you why I am writing a piece called “How to Destroy Christianity”.

I find as a Christian that many unbelievers question some of the major fundamentals of Christianity; namely, our Bible (doctrine), our way of life, and the person and deity of Jesus Christ. They would say, “The Bible is full of contradictions” or “Jesus wasn’t God” or “You all worship three gods!” Many would often say, “Those Christians are a bunch of hypocrites” or even “They take all your money.” While, personally, I can understand many of the claims are valid, as well as true (sadly), the real issue whether or not the Bible is inspired (God-breathed we say, according to the Greek literal interpretation) or Jesus is God and/or, and even whether or not we take people’s money is essentially irrelevant. Yes, I said it. It’s irrelevant. It’s pointless, meaningless, and trite. While, again, there is some validity in those statements, that’s not the core issue. Like anything in this world, everything has a beginning, with the exception of one Being (for you Atheist, nothing has a beginning since God isn’t here, so just use your imagination). Whether you believe we evolved or “morphed” into existence is your thinking right now, and that’s fine (right now…as again, I will address these issues) but the main issue is this. With the beginning of Christianity came Christ (whose name we take on) who began this major way of life (yes, way of life…again, hold to your arguments, all will be addressed later) or for the religiously inclined, “religion” that has exploded into millions of followers. According to a general search on Wikipedia (A2), statistics indicate that 33 percent of the worlds’ population is Christian (or 2.1 billion people out of 6 billion people), which includes the largest portion going to Roman Catholics followed by Protestants, Orthodox, and Anglicans. With Christianity being the largest religion in the world, it’s not wonder that the impact on Christianity in our society is so hugely criticized! It’s a lot of us!! Wouldn’t the world want to hear of a way to “do away” with us by resorting to a measure that will devastate our faith and leave us hopelessness? Sure! That’s the same issue people dealt with in Jesus’ day, how to get rid of Him. How did they do that? They crucified Him. They mocked Him, beat Him, scourged and spat at Him, and then crucified Him! Then…they locked Him in a tomb with a huge boulder serving as a huge lock guarded with Roman soldiers. There was no way that this Jesus could escape by His disciples coming along and stealing the body. Furthermore, Jesus Himself claimed that He could raise Himself from the dead (see John 2:29). If that is true, then Jesus would eventually rise from the grave. That, of course, leads to the question how can He escape from the tomb? The obvious answer is that if Jesus really is God, then He would have the power to raise Himself as well as not letting something simple like a stone prevent Him from leaving. On the flip side, if Jesus isn’t God, though He claimed it otherwise (John 8:46-59;10:30-33), then one of two things are the only conclusions: A) the resurrection never happened and someone so clever made it up that people still, stupidly and vainly and idiotically die for someone who’s dead or B) the resurrection is false, Jesus is a liar and obvious insane, and the body is well hidden that someone is waiting for an opportunity to expose Him. And…if that is true…then the way to stop Christianity would be to produce (display, show, reveal) the body of the person Jesus Christ of Nazareth, Galilee. And if you could do that, then all what Christians believe will come to a crashing halt and the churches of Christianity will have no choice but to close their doors. After all, that’s the very thing that we are sure of—that Jesus died and rose again.

So there you have it!! The best way to eliminate Christianity is to show and prove, beyond the shadow of a doubt, with solid definite evidence, that Jesus Christ body is still buried somewhere, either in “the tomb” or in a tomb. I guarantee that if you focus on that one issue, you won’t have to worry about us making more Bibles or taking your money, because proven correct we’d have nothing else to loose, since our faith would utterly be lost, which is everything to us. In the coming days, I will address more issues regarding Christianity. So, atheists, and all other “counter enemies” of our faith, to obliterate us from the face of the earth, I challenge you, as many have before, find the body of Jesus Christ and you will never hear from us again! Until you do, consider this: If you can’t find the body of Jesus Christ and despite all research and factual evidence of Him being a historical figure, then you have to ask yourself on last question: If He has risen, that makes Him Lord over all things, plus death and sin, then what is He going to do to those who refuse to believe? The answer is obvious: repent and be saved, for through Christ our Lord; He alone is the One who can save you. Repent and confess your turns, turn away from them, and seek after righteousness so that the Risen Savior can raise you to be a witness for Him. Happy hunting and let me know what you find!!

P.S. My brothers and sisters in Christ, see…I told you had nothing to worry about!! In the meantime, I will be back with more. God bless!!
