I've often heard that silence

Is the loudest thing.

Yet I never truly expected it

To be so deafening.

The roar of blood

Echoes through our veins

And then it is magnified

A thousand times again.

But without even a sound

Of breath or sigh,

One can truly feel

The seconds pass you by.

Fleeting moments,

Faster growing.

Deaf ears,

Never, but always, knowing.
