Serenity,
By The Green One
Serenity.
Is it a sensation that one can pass on to another?
Can one know it before feeling it?
Must one have the blues and greens of a lake and forest to achieve it?
Are we destined to feel love, yet believe it to be serenity, as so many before us have?
Is serenity truly calm and still for all?
Must there be no noise, no sight for it?
Must one bind themselves to a single place to feel it?
NO!
Serenity is in you, a fragment of your soul that you must connect to for the feeling of wholeness and serenity, and you cannot complete another’s soul with your own in such a way.
One cannot know the feeling of serenity any more than one can taste blood or have the sting of pain before having the experience.
One need not always keep their loved ones in sight to love them, for they can rely on memory, or simpler still, the feeling itself to sustain the love.
Love and serenity are so often confused for a decent reason; they’re both apexes of human experience, though both different.
Serenity certainly need not be calm, or else the feeling it whilst falling, all ones blood alight with fear, would not be possible.
As for sound and sight, listen to the breath of your child, or the song a parent would sing to lull you to sleep.
Truly, serenity needs none of these things, serenity needs only you to see forward and let yourself slide across the future and your life all but physically.
So no matter how long a time you live, live a life you’d like to remember, even when you can’t remember your own name.
