Humanity

Gladly would I sacrifice,

In perpetuity,

Comforts which until this point

Sacred, stayed with me

no crap this is crap but

here I am,

I write to

write

Write

WRITE

one black swipe after another

one more mark on humanity

of my humanity

Recognize.

You. See. Me.

can I see you?

can my profound blemishes

recognize the stories that read them?

stories cast through eyes

that have witnessed symphonies

utterly unlike mine

and yet so

Human?

That word again.

That hopelessly meager expression of

what we are, and

Who

We

Are

together, despite bombs and walls

and ghosts in disagreement

-in perpetuity-

We are

here

We are

Human

so on some level, I know you

I see you and

you

see

me

silent ash, these words

I don’t pretend they can ignite

in us a realization,

a dawning

of knowledge of

KNOW

ing.

my words are dry

but your eyes make them part

of your symphony

Harmonies, we need.

Unity.

we complement each other

with our eyes,

linked by visions

of this ink

and so I see you

and You

Know

Me

and, bare, these marks remain

Humanity

as I write.
