if heaven were really above
and hell really below
and you had to choose your fate
where would you wanna go?
the first might offer forgiveness
the latter fashioned heat
the leaders are all out
to win each other over
so get out your re-written
after re-written after re-written bibles
it's time to compete

and must i remind you week after week
much like a sport casters play by play
this church thing is just a fad
something they're obligated to say
something they've passed on in time
something they felt needed to be said
but couldn't it just be a grand story
they want planted in your head?

i mean
how can we all come from dust?

how can we all come from nothing?
too bad it wasn't a man named god
but it had to be something
could that something be a species
that once made tracks
before us in time
representing your true heritage
and representing mine

was it all just one man's word
about the crusade
the stiff taxes and
the ever-so-popular global warming?
yet millions throughout time
have been saying he was coming
aren't you slightest bit curious
as to why doubts have been forming?
