You think it's funny
This is the girl who has been nearly run over an incredible amount of times, some at a very young age.
She is now scared of cars.
It takes her ages to cross the road, standing, waiting to be sure all the cars are gone, that she is safe.
She starts to cross.
A horn blares, a man slams on the brakes. The girl jumps back. The car comes to a halt.
The girl stands in the road, inches away from the car. She stares through the back window. The children in the car stare back at her as if to say 'We hate you. You scared our dad.”
The girl runs. She's halfway down the road by now, but that doesn't stop the driver opening the window and yelling out of it, shaking his fist.
“D'you think it's funny?”
And yes, he does find it funny. For when he's delivered the kids -who have forgotten all about the girl - to school, on time, thankfully, he drives home to his wife.
At four o clock he looks at his watch. Home time.
He announces that he's just going down to the shops.
And then he gets into his car.
And drives to a school out of town.
This time, the girl dies.
