I looked around bleakly. Same high school, same boring people, same boyfriend-less Cassie.
“Cassie, turn around!” a voice shouted.
“Alecs!” I screamed, turning around to greet my best friend since fourth grade. “How’ve you been? I haven’t seen you in like, 12 hours!” Alecs laughed at my last comment.
“So, seen anyone else yet?” she asked, running black painted fingers through her black and red streaked hair. Alecs was about 5’6”, had forget-me-not blue eyes and was pale with a few freckles. I, on the other hand, was about 5’8. 5” had green eyes, golden blonde hair and was tan.
“Oh, there’s John! JOHN!” I squealed. John’s face lit up when he saw us. He ran over screaming
“My bitches!” When he reached us, he picked me up and spun me around, then picked up Alecs and spun her around. When he put her down, long arms wrapped themselves around John’s chest and an even taller guy than John leaned down and kissed his cheek. John smiled as he turned around to hug him.
“Frank!” he had time to say before they started making out. Frank and John were just perfect for each other. They were both tall, they both had a great sense of humor, and they both would have had girls jumping all over them if the entire school didn’t know they were gay. John still had girls jumping all over him.
Uh, guys making out! He-lo?!
Oh, right!
“Guys, we’re still here! You’re at school, not Frank’s room,” I said, tapping John on the shoulder. Frank blushed a bit.
“It wasn’t my room, it was always John’s,” he mumbled.
“Okay, Frank, TMI!” Alecs said.
“Ahh! Scarring! You scarred me, Frank!” yelled Ana, coming up behind them.
“Ana!” John screamed as he ran over to spin her around.
“Okay, now that everyone’s here, is anyone ready for our junior year of high school?”
“NO!” we all yelled together.
“Is this year gonna suck?”
“HELL YEAH!”
Now for a little bit about our status in school. Our school had the clichéd cliques, we fit in at about loser-but-not-yet-social-outcast. Though we were friends with some of the Outcasts. Some of us were geeks: me, sluts: Ana, emo freaks: Alecs, and gay: Frank and John. Frank and John were almost never talked about as two separate people; normally it was just one word, FrankandJohn. They were the only ones in our group with a steady boyfriend, Ana has one every two weeks. Meanwhile, Alecs had a boyfriend in 8th grade and a girlfriend in 9th, but both were short term. I’ve never had a boyfriend.
Gasp!
Fuck you.
Screw you.
Are we trying to find new ways to say “fuck you:?
Go get laid, bitch.
“Cassie! Cassie! You have your self-pity, I-don’t-have-a-boyfriend face on,” Ana said, shaking my shoulder.
“Fuck you,” I said automatically. Ana sighed. Before she could complain about something, the bell rang.
“Nooo! First period!! I’ll be separated from you for a whole hour!” John cried, hugging Frank. Alecs rolled her eyes.
“You don’t get it, Alecs,” I said, ”they love each other in a Romeo and Romeo way, ‘cause Franks parents know he’s gay but don’t know who his boyfriend is and Johns parent’s would kill him if thy found our he’s gay. Alecs laughed.
“Okay, I get it! All this coming from the single, non-lesbian girl.”
Later that week“Fuck!” I have homework in every class except for lunch! I don’t think that even counts as a class!” Ana moaned. “Cassie, you have to help me!”
“Sorry, I have a history project to perfect.” In case you haven’t noticed, everyone begs me to do their homework for them. Ana turned to Alecs.
“Alecs?” she asked.
“Bite me,” Alecs mumbled.
“Ughh! You guys suck!” I only smiled as I bent my head over my paper. We were eating lunch from Wendy’s while doing homework. Alecs, Ana and I were sitting at a table in the courtyard and Frank and John had both needed to go to the bathroom at the same time. Just then the intercom squawked on.
“And don’t forget to come to the Vipera Fall Dance! Remember: this is not a Prom!” called the overly perky school guidance counselor. Shit. I glanced over to see an excited Ana looking at me.
“Cassie, we have to go!”
