Dave drives down the street in the direction that he knows Matt will leave in later, he turns onto a side street and pulls a U-turn and faces the street ahead. About an hour and a half later Matt drives right past him and Sam is not in his car. She must have found another way to school, good. He pulls three car lengths behind Matt and follows him, left, left, right, left, right, right, left, on and on they go, into an area that Dave was not familiar with at all. Matt hits the break in front of a house and Dave drives past him and turns onto the next street, parks his car, and goes to the side of the house that Matt went into.

This was obviously in the bad part of town and as Dave peered through the open window he saw the man from the other day. The other man and Matt moved into the room nearest to Dave and Dave could hear everything.

“This is going perfect so far, Dave doesn’t know, and Sam is under the false impression that I’m gay, ha!” Dave couldn’t believe his ears, Matt apparently told Sam that he’s gay, so then what is he trying to do?

“Well be careful, if either of them figure out what’s going on non of this is going to work, keep to the plan okay?” Okay this is weird, what plan is going on? These two are talking like they’re master criminals… oh shit, I’ve gotta watch out, need to tell Sam.

Without listening to another word he sends Sam and emergency text with an ‘urgent’ note to tell her to hurry, the text read, “GO HOME NOW!” By the time Dave got home Sam was already there, hadn’t left. “Sam listen, I’ve got to talk to you.”

“Okay… your text seemed really important, what’s going on?” She looked so innocent and ignorant to the situation surrounding them.

He immediately began to blurt out everything that he overheard, slyly leaving out the details about following Matt and tracking him to that shitty house. Only when he began to slow down and breath did Sam speak to him. “Dave, relax, you must have misunderstood, I know Matt, and he’s not planning anything. He’s just not like that.”

“Then how do I know this, he’s been telling you that he’s gay, that’s the ‘big secret’ going on around that you two won’t tell me.” Slight anger rising through his blood as he says this, he’s practically accusing her of lying to him.

“Yes that was the secret, I wanted to tell you but for some stupid ass reason he kept telling me to keep it to myself and that it was none of your business. Sorry, but it wasn’t my secret to tell.”

“That’s okay, that’s not my point, my point is that I know that, that is the secret, and it is a lie. I heard something about a ‘plan’ and I think he’s trying to steal you away from me. He wants you back Sam.”

“If that’s right then why would he tell me he’s gay?” Dave just can’t see why this doesn’t make any sense to her.

“I don’t know, I can’t see how that would help him get you, but I just can’t see what else he could be planning, you know?” After that last question they both fell into silence. She’s right though, how could telling her he’s gay get her back? That is so illogical, there has got to be another plan behind this… but what?

An hour later Mike returned to the house but Dave and Sam decided that they weren’t going to come out and confront Mike. That wouldn’t work, he could just deny it and play it off and they would never know, they will have to be careful. They all just chilled around the house doing nothing specific, Sam was acting perfectly, she always could, and she didn’t seem an ounce different from how she always acted. Dave on the other hand was another story all together. He could act worth of shit, he kept starring at Mike like it would help him read Mike’s mind. He didn’t contribute to any of the discussion and just acted very out there and non-responsive. At the end of the day, he went to bed early, and missed movie-night with Sam for the first time in what feels like forever. It almost seemed as if that was one giant step closer to losing the perfect everything to his life. He cried in his dreams that night.
