Fading Away

Perhaps, if for one more day, I shall hold onto the hope I once had.

Perhaps, if for one more day, I will allow myself to forgot all that’s been done.

I will continue to struggle against all that I can.

I will continue to try to forget all the pain you’ve caused.

Tomorrow is a long time coming, but it will come.

Just as the sun eventually rises, one day I will rise from among these ashes.

If, for one more day, I can keep myself from fading away.

Sorry about the length. One day I may try to make it longer. The poem was written for an English class last year which accompanied a drawing of Cosette from Les Miserables.
