Chapter 1

First Days

My group, chaperon, and I got on the plane to go to Florida for our school trip. I was excited until I got stuck in an all guy group. Yeah, that's right; I'm stuck with three guys and me. Life's great isn't it? Yeah, I know. Life sucks. Anyways, at least I got the window seat. Though I only did because Mike who's next to me and Andrew who's next to him wanted to talk to Jake who is in the next set of seats right next to us. So, while they talk for two and a half hours I'll be listening to music and reading.

I was on the fifth chapter of my book 'Bad Luck Can Be a Good Thing' when Mike tapped my shoulder. I sighed put a book make in the book and took my headphones off before looking at him.

"Yes?" I asked a little frustrated.

"Mrs. Brylan wants you." Mike said pointing to our chaperon. I sighed and leaned forward so that she could see me.

"Since there are four of you and only three bedrooms with two beds in two of the rooms in our hotel suit I'm pairing you all up into twos. I will have the room with one bed, Mike and Andrew will have one room, and Elie and Jake will have the last room with the window." Mrs. Brylan explained. We all nodded in understanding before going back to what we were doing.

An hour later we got off the plane and headed to our hotel. We were on the eighth floor of the nine. Our room was room 825. I carried my two bags directly into my room. After I put my bags on the side of my bad I looked around the room. There was a TV at the end of Jake and my beds. It was in the middle so we could both watch it. It had a DVD player and tape player hooked up to it. I continued to look around the room. There was a walk in closet in the far corner of the room and a nice big bathroom on the same wall as the beds were. The walls were painted a light blue and the carpet was a dark blue. It was actually a pretty nice room.

After I finished looking at the room I headed back to the main room that was like a living room with a kitchen off the side. There was a couch and two lay-back chairs with a TV in front of them. Mike, Jake, and Andrew were hooking up an Xbox to the TV. Our chaperon; Mrs. Brylan was no where to be found and the room that was suppose to be hers had the door closed and locked. I gave it a questioning look but shrugged it off and decided to write a note. I wrote the note saying that I was going to be at the indoor pool and that I would be back later and taped it to the outside of Mrs. Brylan's door. I gave the three boys one last look before walking into my bedroom and changing into my bathing suit.

It was a two piece bath suit. The top was dark blue with silver lining and tied at the neck and hooked in the back. The bottom was black with silver and dark blue lining and tied on each side for decoration; so it didn't matter if you tied it or not. I normally didn't; after all, it just came undone anyways. I grabbed a towel and my music player then left to the pull down stairs. I saw a few guys checking me out, but I didn't care. I wasn't interested in any of those boys. I wasn't interested in a boy who liked me for what I looked like. It's all or nothing with me. You either like all of me or you like none of me, there is no in-between. That's just how I ran.

As I walked into the room where the indoor pool was I saw that there wasn't anyone in it. I was a little surprised but shrugged it off and walked over to one of the chairs and put my towel down on it. I looked around again then got into the in the ground hot tube to the left of the pool. I put my music player down on the floor outside the hot tube and put my headphones on and turned the volume up on full blast. I didn't have to worry about the music player or headphones getting wet because this one was water proof. Yeah, I knew I would be spending most of my time in the water while I was here so I brought this kind of music player.

The first song was by my favorite singer. Her name was Kiei Hyuchi, she was a pop singer; really good if you asked me. As I relaxed in the hot tube I stated to sing. Yeah, sometimes I start singing and don't even know that I am.

"You left me behind

But it's not over

I won't let you forget

All the pain you caused my heart

You left me alone

In the dark and alone

How could you leave me

I miss you

I want you back

You left me for her

I don't understand

You left me in the dark

Alone in the dark

How could you leave me

Did I lose my love to someone better

Do you really love her more then me

Or was I the one wrong the entire time

I miss you so much

Did I really lose your love

Or did I never have it to begin with

You left me alone

In the dark and alone

How could you leave me

I gave you my heart

And I thought you gave me yours

But I guess that was a lie too

But now you're gone

And you're not coming back

I gave you my heart and ripped it apart

I'll never forget you

No matter how I try

You're like a tattoo

I'll always have you

Tattooed to my heart..." I sang but stopped as the song ended. My voice was gentle and elegant. I had been singing all my life. It was one of my best talents. It's also the only talent that I've always had. I love to sing and I couldn't help but sing when I felt like it.

I sat in the hot tube for about an hour before getting out and drying off. I wrapped my towel around me then headed back upstairs. When I opened the door Mrs. Brylan looked at me angrily then stomped over to me.

"Where the hell have you been young lady?! Who the hell said that you could leave?!" Mrs. Brylan yelled. I walked passed her closing the front door behind me. I saw the three boys staring at me as I walked up to Mrs. Brylan's door and pointed to the note taped there.

"You blind? If your door wasn't locked then I would have just asked. But either way, I'm 14 and you; you're NOT my mother. Act like it again and you'll be introduced to my fist." I threatened with a glare. I hated it when people tried to act like my mother. I wasn't sure why I did, but I had a pretty good idea. I probably hated other people acting like my mother because all of my dad's girlfriends did that. My dad and I never got along. Well, no, that's not completely true. We did get along; at one time, but that was a long time ago.

You see, my dad cheated on my mom and my mom kicked him out. My dad would always use me to get a girlfriend and crap like that. As I got older and more realizing I decided to put a stop to it. So, that's what I did. Now I don't see my dad much anymore and I'm okay with that. I never actually saw him when I was with him anyways. I would really only be spending time with his girlfriend's kid. I always hated that.

I looked at Mike, Jake, Andrew, and then at Mrs. Brylan. They all had shocked looks on their faces. Though I may look small and weak I was quite the opposite. I was actually pretty strong. I was born with natural strength for some reason. I sighed and walked into my room and got changed after taking a shower. It was almost eight o'clock now and I was kinda tired after the trip so I decided just to leave it at that and go to bed.

I put my pajamas on which consisted of a huge lose baggy green tee-shirt and a pair of gray shorts; simple.

As I crawled into bed and turned out the light I got a feeling that tomorrow wasn't going to be much better.

I woke up at about five o'clock am and couldn't get back to sleep. I stepped out of bed and walked over to one of my bags which had my laptop computer in it. I quietly took it out then walked out of the room into the main room careful not to wake anyone up. I went onto IM and started to talk to my friend Andrew Anderson. I talked to her until seven thirty when she had to sign off because she was tiered from staying up all night. I laughed at her because she always stayed up and then was angry when she was tired and couldn't stay up anymore. I was about to go and read fan fiction on the internet when I decided to take a break from the computer and see what it was like out. I walked past the TV and the couches to the balcony that I noticed when I got up this morning.

I walked over to the sliding glass door and walked out, not bothering to close the door behind me. I could see the ocean and the beach from where I was standing and I smiled. It looked so peaceful with no one walking on it. I giggled at my sweet idea and ran inside almost forgetting to close the sliding glass door. I grabbed paper and a pen and wrote a note to Mrs. Brylan and taped it to her door knowing that after last night she would see it. I decided that I didn't want to wait to go to the beach any longer so I didn't change out of my pajamas. I really didn't care who saw me, after all, I didn't know any of them and why should I care what they have to think anyways.

I ran out of the hotel and across the parking lot to the beach next to the hotel. I walked along the beach listening to the sound of the waves hitting the shore. It was beyond what I had imagined. I loved every minute of it. I loved being alone, especially at a time like this. I smiled as the sound of the waves and the water made me want to sing. So that's what I did. I sang the only song I knew that could describe this feeling; This Feeling by Kiei Hyuchi.

"The music around me

Singing and dancing

The sounds that I hear

Loving and caring

Everything together

All in one

I can't help but smile

The feeling inside growing and shinning

I can't help but smile

At the feeling inside

I look around

The wind in my face

The freedom I feel

The happiness nothing can ever replace

The memory of this place

I will never forget

A place that I'll never forget

A place close to my heart

I see the world

In a new way now

Don't let me forget

The way I feel

I can't help but smile

The feeling inside growing and shinning

I can't help but smile

At the feeling inside

I see something I never saw

A life

And a new beginning

I love the look of the new start

I close my eyes

To the feelings inside

Happiness and joy surrounding me

I love the feeling

I look at the world

Now in slow motion

Like time has stopped

At this time

At this place

I'll never forget

The way I see the world today

A new light

Shinning and glistening

I'll never forget!

I'll always remember!

I open my eyes

A smile now fading

People are coming

The world has set back in

Time is back

The moment is gone

In a flash it was gone

But it's still forever in my mind

I'll never forget

The memory of a moment forever there

Fresh and vivid in my heart

In my mind

I'll never forget the words

The thoughts

The feelings in my heart

They are all things

That I'll never forget" I said each note. I sang each word carefully. The end of the song came and I smiled. No one was up yet that I could see. I stood there staring at the waves as the water ran over my bare feet.

"I never knew that you could sing. You're really good." A guy's voice said. I turned around shocked that he had heard me. I saw Jake walking up to me. He had on a pair of blue shorts and a white tee-shirt. A light blush crossed my face.

"How long have you -?" I started to ask but was cut off.

"...The entire time. No, you didn't wake me up. I was already awake when you got up." Jake interrupted.

'How did he know what I was going to ask?' I questioned myself but shrugged it off thinking that a lot of people would probably ask that question at a time like this. He stood next to me and looked out at the ocean.

"It's peaceful isn't it?" He asked. I looked at him shocked. I had never seen this side of him before. I turned towards the water and looked at it before I nodded.

"Yeah, it is." I said with a kind smile as I looked at the water. I suddenly felt a hand around my waist. My smile fell and I looked at him irritated. "What the hell do you think you're doing?" I asked glaring at him. He looked at me with a smile.

"What? I can't?" he asked stupidly.

'What the hell kind of question is that?! The nerve!' I mentally yelled.

"No!" I yelled. His other hand went over my mouth.

"Calm down. Relax. You don't wanna lose the moment do you? It won't last much longer since the sun has already come up. People will start to come out. You sang it yourself." He explained. I looked at him a little shocked. I hadn't expected him to care. He removed his hand from over my mouth but didn't remove his arm from around my waist. I sighed in defeat only because he was right for once. But if he ever did it again after this moment he would be in for it.

What we didn't know was that Mike and Andrew saw my note and noticed Jake was gone to. So they came to investigate only to see the entire incident between me and Jake.

Jake and I stood there for a little while longer but headed back to the hotel when people started to come out. Before we went into the hotel room I stopped Jake.

"What happened on the beach; tell anyone about it, and you'll be introduced to my fist. Am I making myself clear?" I asked seriously. Jake smiled.

"Yeah." He answered and went to open the door. I looked at him.

"I hope so." I said as he opened up the door and we walked in. I walked directly into my room and grabbed some clean clothes then walked into the bathroom. I started the shower and got in while in the main room of the hotel room the three boys were having there own conversation.

After the shower start Mike and Andrew walked out of their room and into the main room where Jake was sitting on the couch watching TV.

"So? What happened?" Mike asked as Andrew turned the TV off.

"Yeah, did you ask her out?" Andrew asked after turning the TV off.

"What are you talking about?" Jake asked a bit aggravated that they turned the TV off.

"Jake, we're not blind." Andrew stated giving Jake a 'don't act stupid' look.

"We saw the whole thing on the beach." Mike added.

"So, what about it?" Jake asked wanting to get to the point of the conversation before I got out of the shower and heard them.

"Jake, are you ignoring the feeling or are you really just stupid?" Mike asked a bit surprised.

"Everyone knows that Elie punches or slaps any guy who touches her like that. You did and got away with it. As for you, you never touch anyone like that." Andrew explained.

"So are you just ignoring the fact that you like her or are you really that blind?" Mike asked. Jake didn't answer for a minute as he looked out the balcony window.

"She doesn't like me. So, it doesn't matter if I like her or not; which I don't. Now drop it. If she hears me talking about this I'm dead. I promised her that I wouldn't say anything." Jake said looking at his two friends. Mike and Andrew sighed in defeat.

"We'll drop it for now. But you better make your move before she meets someone else. I heard a few guys talking about her in the lobby yesterday evening." Mike stated then turned the TV back on and started playing a video game with Andrew.
