Returning
“Hal, wake up, we're about to land,” my brother told me as he shook my shoulder. I slowly sat up and looked out the window sure enough we were flying over the east coast. My brother, Jaeden, and I were on our way home from a summer at our grandparents in California. I quickly buckled my seat belt and waiting while we started to descend, this was my least favorite part of flying. As we got lower Jacen kept me talking so that my ears wouldn't pop, he always knew what exactly to do. By the time he had finished the topic I could hear and feel the wheels hit the ground. I sighed in relief as we were taxied into the terminals.
“Jacen, do you think Dad will be here or will he have sent a driver?” I asked him.
“Hals, I don't know, you know what his work schedule is like it changes in a minute.” As the seatbelt sign went off Jaeden stood up and got our carry on bags from the overhead compartment before leading the way off the plane. Walking down the hall I got even more anxious to see if it truly was our father picking us up.
I stopped right when I got to the waiting area, “What are you doing here?”
“I called your house to see if Jaeden and you were back yet but your dad said that you got in today and the driver would pick you up so instead I volunteered.”
Typical, for Seth to volunteer. He was my brother's best friend who we've known since probably birth.
“Must you two spend every waking moment together? I mean don't you see each other enough during the school day between classes and practice,” they just looked at each other and smirked. They were truly best friends, never have I seen them in a true fight with each other.
“Hali, just come on we have to get your bags,” I sighed but followed as he led the way to baggage claim to get our stuff.
There was still two weeks until school started but my brother had to be back for football. You see he was the starting running back, but also the captain. And Seth was the quarterback, so not only were they my brother and his best friend but they were also considered “hott” so they were the top of the social system, basically ruling the school.
Now, I wasn't a nobody but I wasn't accepted just best I'm related to the hottest guy in school. I was accepted for my own achievements.
“Earth to, Hal. Are you ready,” I blinked to see Seth standing in front of me holding my bags and next to him was Jaeden with his own. Since when did he get my bags for me? I just nodded and followed my brother and him out to his car.
We were back; the Bower twins were home at last.
