There was an ugliness factory,
where ugliness was manufacture...
out came a doll,
an eye missing,
and crooked teeth,
staring at me,
waiting to be loved,
and instead I just
moved the doll along the assembly line,
knowing how
ugliness in this
world cannot save
the doll nor me
instead I learned
that day how
to give a hug
to a doll who just
wanted to be loved
just like me.
