Before Everything Else

She glistened
In a world full of apathy.
She mattered
When everything is purposeless.

Humbled.

Right back to the start point.
She tries to get away.
Sometimes, it seems like nothing is worth saving.
Tried to trust, but led astray.

I can’t watch you fall apart.
I won't watch you fall apart.
Bring back the you from the start.
I can’t watch her fall apart.

She reads the minds of all the people as they pass her by.
Hoping someone will see.
If you had left a little bit I’d try to help,
But it’s too late for me.

I can’t watch you fall apart.
I won't watch you fall apart.
I’m nothing but a broken heart.
I can’t watch her fall apart.

We'll find the perfect place to go where we can run and hide.
I'll build a wall and we can keep them on the other side.
...but they keep waiting...
...and poking...
...and prodding...
...and watching...
...and staring...
...and picking...
...and picking...
...and picking...

It's something I just can’t do.

I can’t watch you fall apart.
I was there, too.
I won’t watch you fall apart.
Before everything else,
I can’t watch you fall apart.
I was like you.
I won’t watch you fall apart.
