All Has Turned To Grey

A small face in the crowd,

Small green eyes looking down,

The game is set,

The pieces are in play.

But this is the one game, she should never have to play.

A small child, lost and alone,

Nothing to live for,

No place to call home.

A tear slips slowly, down her face.

A broken angel, lost in this place.

She knows her destiny,

She’s seen the fire,

The burning flames,

With a brutal desire.

Kill her family,

Destroy her life.

Make her smile,

disappear into the night.

Her eyes squeeze shut,

She tries to block the screams.

Her Mother is dying.

Burning in the flames.

Now watch her face,

And see the life.

Seep slowly out,

Into the night.

Watch the joyfulness decay,

Ice cold eyes say nothing matters,

And all has turned to grey.

Now if you listen with your heart,

You’ll hear her cries for salvation part.

A broken angel,

Taken against her will.

A silent cry, that no one heard.

Beseeches that you’ll listen,

And stop the massacre,

From ever happening to a little girl.

I wrote this for an assingment in my Freshman year for English. As you've probally figured out, it is about the Holocaust. Please be aware that although the Holocaust was a number of year ago, there is still genocide happening today, such as the one in Darfur. If the government isn't going to do anything about this horror, then it's up to us. Many people haven't even HEARD about Darfur. Please, take a few minutes and spread the word, do all that you can to stop this from happening. Go to:

www . darfurgenocide . org (without the spaces)

for more information.
