Title: Mentor

Summary: A mentor and her student. The student observes and dreams.

under her nimble fingers the

phrases come alive. molding

themselves into a work of

beauty. Dipping the nib, she goes

at it again, and I, the

observer watch and

dream.

“wholly good, its smile gleams

up at me. an innocence not known for years

erupts and I clutch the baby. shiny,

wet eyes. they’re mine. Iris, that’ll be her

name.”

reverie broken, time begins anew. done

so soon? no, break. relief. shutting door

and I’m alone. Looking back at the

words and dream again.

Dreamer, Dreamer, can you one day act?

pen in hand, I relax and breathe

deeply. words begin to whisper and I

listen. an art form to be true, for the

sounds are art. the words stop and i

gaze at the finished piece.

“A mentor, I see,” she says and I smile. yes,

a mentor.
