(Insecure)

What is it about us,

That makes us so insecure?

Are we afraid to feel vulnerable?

Or are we just unsure?

Unsure of our abilities, intelligence or looks,

That we hide behind personas, clothing and books.

This is puzzle I can’t figure out,

Of this I question I’m guilty,

I have absolutely no doubt.

I know I’m insecure and all that it implies,

It’s a problem I’m working on,

Hey, at least I try.

Why do we wear a protective guard?

Do we really need our masks?

Is this all just absurd?

Why do wear these different masks?

Those are a few questions,

No one ever stops to ask.

They never stop to ask but deep down inside,

They’re contemplating those feelings,

They just want to hide.

“Why?” seems to be the question of the day,

Perhaps it will get answered,

Somehow…someday.

If we can just focus on the problem at hand,

Perhaps questions will get answered,

And we can finally understand.

Understand the feelings of being insecure,

Why we all feel them,

And why we hide being unsure.
