The Aftermath Bomb

We ended war with the atom bomb

Right before we dropped it on everyone

We made bigger guns to ensure peace

Before killing the strong and maiming the weak

We went to the media for some kind of relief

And found only lies and false belief

We went to the church looking for hope

But found only words that squeezed and choked

We went to God for inspiration

And he showed us our own creation

The Aftermath Bomb

It’s the town we turned in to a tomb

With the fires and the smoking fumes

The children we killed in the crossfire

Acceptable losses to the higher powers

It’s the soldiers who died for someone else’s fight

Killed by the people of some great decline

This is our Operation Shock and Awe

To show to the masses the true enemies we have fought

It’s ourselves and a button in our minds

We just need to press it to see what’s behind

We just dropped the bomb but nobody’s screaming

They’re waiting for this to start bleeding

The Aftermath has arrived

Take Fear and Take Flight

The Aftermath Bomb has arrived

/AN/ Because the War is only the prelude to the Aftermath, when the smoke finally clears and we can see clearly with fear what we did here/AN/
