It was nearing midnight and the entire city was paved in black, save for the occasional street light, or building spotlight though neither did any decent job of allowing the midnight walker the ability to genuinely see. The city wasn't by far the richest. In fact, it was one of those low towns that was known for it's crime rating. Most of the buildings were made of old, dirty brick, though most were free of graffiti and other acts of vandalism. The building spacing was just far enough apart to allow only two people at a time to pass if they were side by side.

This night a pretty little blond had been strolling down the sidewalk beside some buildings that resembled abandoned pillow factories. To her right was the empty street, and beyond that and down about five feet or so, was a dirty river. Having been lost in her own thought, her eyes immediately widened as she let out a frightened squeak when a stranger grabbed her tightly around the upper right arm and forced her into an immediate run. All she could see of him was very short hair and a black trench coat. She had no idea whom he was or what he'd wanted, but even if she wanted to get away from him, she knew she wouldn't be strong enough to remove her arm from his grasp.

When the tall man dragging her behind him stopped, they were in a small diner, which wasn't nearly as well lit as she would have preferred.

"Stay here." He told her as he let go of her arm, and then turned to an obviously middle-aged strawberry blond waitress "Get her something to eat."

The girl was seated and offered a small plate of what resembled triangular-shaped chicken nuggets. The center of these was potato, and around that was breaded chicken with a mild jalapeno sauce such as that which they use in jalapeno chicken poppers. She had to admit, despite their odd appearance and shape, it tasted good. The man from before had disappeared by this point, though when she had gotten up to go pay for what she had just eaten, she saw him reappear out of the corner of her eye. The total had only been $1.11 and the girl had taken her change purse from her pocket and had begun gathering the amount owed.

"Let me get this." He stated, pulling his wallet from his back pocket.

"Don't worry about it. I've got it." She said in return.

She didn't see it, but behind his dark shades, he nearly glared as he stuffed his wallet back in his back pocket and started for the door. She put the money on the counter and then like a lost dog proceeded to follow him. By the time she was outside in the black of night, she was unable to see where the tall man had headed off to. The strawberry blond that had served her a few minutes before had followed her outside, and grabbed her upper right arm.

"Come here." She said as she led the smaller and younger girl to the right, and ultimately down an alley.

They came to a door at the end of this alley, and the waitress opened it. When they went through it, the door was so heavy that it was able to shut itself. The small girl's muscles were tense and she was extremely nervous by this point. The square room was very dark, but what she could see as she was taken along a walkway to the right, was soft sod in the middle of this room. There was something in the sod that she could see, but she couldn't quite make out what it was aside from whatever it was, it was big.

She was led to the left, and then they stopped. The waitress pushed a lever up, which caused the large object in the sod to rise up and illuminate. The small girl stared at the lights in the middle of the room, as the waitress grinned and looked towards the fascinated, and nervous girl. It was then that the girls both heard the door slamming itself shut as it had before, and immediately glanced across the room, only to see the tall man making his way towards them. The waitress, unbeknownst to the small girl, had disappeared as the man turned the corner.

He moved towards the lever and removed a new cigar box, which was promptly thrown to the ground. This was done to free up his hands, as the lever was quite heavy to pull down.

"Here, open these for me."

All she could do for a long moment was stare at the box, but as he fought to turn the lights off, she picked up the box, opened it, and took one of them out. As she looked up at him, she could see he had dirty blond hair, and was a younger man about 25 years, though older than herself. The burnt out 2 inch cigar butt that had previously been in his mouth he had removed and flicked it across the room, which caused it to land on the walkway near the heavy door they had entered from. She placed a fresh cigar from his box between his lips and he had taken the box from her, failing to pull out his lighter. His other hand went back around her upper right arm as he led her past the lever and out an alternate exit.

After they exited the building and went back out into the black of the night, another man had entered the room from where the three had previously. This man was a little older than the girl's companion, and a lot more ungenerous looking. His judgmental eyes cast a glance downward at the discarded cigar butt as he bent down to pick it up. Bringing it up to his nose, he sniffed at it before offering a hefty glare and growling to himself in a baritone voice.

"Logan."
