chasing rainbows

as i flip through the pages of my diary,
somebody please help me out of this misery
and continue this on-going fantasy
about a boy who defied gravity.

he has conquered my dreams
and he's not what he seems,
a fairytale prince -
i hope i know what that means.

he has been chasing rainbows with me,
collecting butterfly wings just to see
if it fits me.

he has been wishing on
stars that have fallen,
hoping to heal a heart
that's been broken.

he has been chasing rainbows with me,
gathering the colors just to see
if God's promise was made for this tragedy.

he has been chasing rainbows with me,
painting the sky with shades of ebony -
waiting for the rain to stop falling
and once again, chase rainbows with me.
