Memory and Silver sat on their knees in the grass looking at the other. Silver, who was named for her striking silver-green eyes, had long, raven-black hair that gave a lovely contrast to her soft white skin and light eyes. She was wearing a shirt that was Memory's favorite, with a semi-low neck and sheer lace sleeves that came down to her finger tips. It was a deep green that looked amazing with her skin. Her jeans were her own favorite pair, ones she's had for a long time. There was some random writing on it that never washed out, but just served to make them more special. But, most importantly to Silver, the outfit covered all the scars and the bruises. To finish the ensemble was the promise ring Memory gave her for their six month anniversary hanging on a simple chain around her neck.
Memory was wearing simple, form-fitting t-shirt and her trademark tight jeans. Her light honey-blond hair was pulled back into a clip at the base of her neck, making it easier to see her shocking emerald green eyes. Her clothes, though simple, made her look like a runway model. She, too, had a ring hung around her neck given to her by Silver.
A tear ran down Memory's cheek.
"I'm so sorry," Silver whispered as she gently cupped Memory's face. Memory leaned into the touch, wondering what she'll ever do without it.
On this beautiful day in a magical little clearing, it was these two beautiful lovers' last day together.
The week before, Silver had broken the news that she was leaving. She had to...It was, quite literally, killing her to stay. The girls loved each other with all their hearts, with all their souls. But Memory couldn't follow; she couldn't go with Silver. For the last week, Memory spent most of her time helping her slightly younger lover get ready to go.
They had even gotten Memory's parents, Jordan and Alicia Angel, in on it. Thankfully, they were willing to help Silver in any way they could, even though the girls refused to tell Jordan and Alicia why she was really leaving. They'd had a two thousand dollars transferred to a secret account for Silver, and gave her a ring with their hotels' insignia so where ever she went she could stay at any of their hotels. They had maps prepared, marking cheap places to stay and eat along with places that were even more unsafe than others. They gave their word to do anything they could to stop her father from finding her. And they promised to keep Memory safe.
It was the last two that Silver needed the most.
Silver left tonight.
She was taking Memory's cherry red convertible and driving all night, to stay in one of the Angel's hotels. She was going to start on foot the next morning.
Truthfully, Silver didn't have any idea where she was going. She hoped to find a place somewhere where she could work and find a more permanent place to stay, but had no idea where. Somewhere far away, she told Memory.
Memory loved Silver. It was killing her to let Silver go like this. But she had to. Silver's fate would be worse if she stayed, and they both knew it. Silver was ready to go. And, because Memory loved her, she wouldn't stop her. She couldn't.
But that didn't mean Memory didn't want her to go.
Back in the present, Memory whispered an I Love You and put her hand over the one Silver had laid on her cheek.
Silver was still leaving tonight.
But they still had today. So there they sat, looking into each other's eyes, not knowing when they'll see each other after today, but refusing to think about it.
For today, they just wanted to be in love.
