Isabella

Voices in my head

Telling me the paths to choose

Impossible things lie in my stead

You never see all the obvious clues

You can’t say you like it

You can’t say you never knew

“This whole thing is bullshit”

Whispered the sun as the wind blew

What is past this rough patch?

A beautiful, fairytale land?

With stars falling for you to catch

Strange voices in the sand

She closes the door to friends

Deigns to take candy from strangers

Ignores all the outstretched hands

Braving her way through fiery dangers

“Isabella, Isabella,” the slick voices call,

“Come here, come here.”

Entranced, she follows them all

Wide eyes never full of fear.
