A/N: Here will follow a series of poems by me for my own amusement and that of my friends, occasionally.
Poem Number 1
This was inspired by my Astronomy class (Best! Thing! Ever!) and also attempted stargazing from the courtyard during Homecoming.
“Astronomy”
Look, up there (pointing) there’s the summer triangle:
That one’s Vega, then Deneb, and down there is Altair (I think).
Here in Chicago you can’t see much.
Orion would be that way, along the tree line—the building’s in the way.
He’s more a winter constellation, anyhow.
Yeah, that’s right, the Hunter. He’s fighting Taurus the bull.
You’re a Leo, right? No, you’d be whatever comes after…I can’t remember.
I’m a Sagittarius, the centaur archer.
The nearest black hole? Well, dang, that’s easy. My bedroom.
Or maybe my brain. Sucks in random, useless information—
Occasionally spews it out at unsuspecting villagers.
