Human Nature

Words left unsaid and stories half-told

We’re all so stupid in our meaningless pride

What is life but a gold moon in a basket?

One terrible story of nowhere to hide?

Red chipped fingernail polish

And scuffed black Converse

Blonde hair mussed up

Eyes tired as they watch for the hearse

Who are we but small little things?

No greater than the mud or the sand.

Phantoms twirl and round you ring

Nobody gets it ‘cause nobody can

Black hair in pigtails

A preppy button-down shirt

Loud voice that’s screaming

Jeans all covered with dirt

The Moon is the only one who knows or sees

Velvet-covered in the soft grey clouds

Stop flattering yourself that you’re all alone

You’re not the only one in the crowd
