Better Days Ahead

This is the realization

Of a forbidden love.

One second you’re blissful,

So full of boundless joy and energy;

The next you’re shattered,

A hopeless mess with sudden emptiness.

Not being able to act on it

Makes you crazy with sadness.

It’s a wound to the heart

And perhaps your mind, too.

You thought it would be easy,

That you’d move on and be fine,

And you know that you will

One way or another.

But that doesn’t deny the fact:

It still hurts.

It’s not effortless,

Letting go of these moments in time.

But it’s not supposed to be.

It tests you,

Shows how you deal with it.

And you learn from it,

From what you do as a reaction.

But the beautiful thing about pain

And injury and sorrow

Is that they heal.

Love heals.

You just have to hold on for a while.

Hold on to your trust,

Your friends,

Your passion.

There are better days ahead.

There always will be.

In those times of need,

When you need a little comfort

And to forget the world for a while,

Wrap your arms around someone you rely on

And squeeze.

There will always be a pair of open arms

To welcome you each day.

With time, we grow.

Our minds grow,

Our bodies grow,

Our hearts grow,

Our passions grow,

Our lives grow.

We never stop growing.

With that growth comes change.

Though not always what you expect,

It’s more of a blessing than a curse.

Acceptance of adjustment is never simple,

But the act of doing it is rewarding.

Even if you live in the moment,

That moment will come to pass

And be replaced with a new one.

There’s no need to fear or mourn its loss.

The memories will remain intact.

And even if the love is forbidden,

That doesn’t mean you’re forbidden

From love.

You will go on,

And so will your heart.
