Chapter One

On the day of an eclipse, a prophecy that has been foretold for decades will give birth to a child.

The first born girl the Celestials have ever had shall inherit all the powers of the Creation Goddess, as usual with reincarnations.

It shall be her duty to protect the land of Penthea from the clutches of the evil that has been building, waiting for the perfect time to attack.

She must be prepared for the growing evil that surrounds us all.

However, if she is not pure of heart, the land will forever be doomed.

So went the story the oracle told the Celeste family, short for Celestial. Their name had been shortened, as to not be so obvious to the evil that wished to one day harm their daughter.

The old oracle woman had told them of this prophecy when Molly Celeste had found out she was pregnant.

Every woman in the Celeste family would go to the family of oracles, the Crossils, when she found out she was pregnant.

Each had hoped that she would be the one to birth such a girl.

It was impossibility, though, for any woman who married a man of the Celeste family to give birth to a daughter that was not the reincarnation of the Creation Goddess. That way, it would be obvious to know who the reincarnation was.

But Molly and Carter Celeste had hope; hope that they would be the ones to birth the reincarnation. For the oracle had also told the family that whoever birthed the first ever daughter of the Celeste family would be given such extraordinary luck that it would be unimaginable. And luck was the one thing the couple needed right now, for they were broke and had no place to go. If they did not give birth to a girl, then they would not be able to support their child and would have to give him away. They needed this, more than any of the past members of the Celeste family ever did.

“Push,” The doctor said, “push.”

“Breathe honey, breathe.” Molly Celeste’s husband told her while gripping her hand.

The three were in the doctor’s home, for the couple had no home for themselves suitable for such a thing.

Sweat beads rolled down Molly’s face as it contorted in both pain and effort. She was trying with all her might to ‘push’, as the doctor said, but it sure hurt, a lot.

Seconds later, the loud crying of a baby could be heard.

Molly and Carter both sighed in relief, it was over, or so they thought.

The doctor was a family doctor and knew of the legend. That’s why, after he had cleaned up the baby, he laughed.

“What’s so funny doctor?” Carter asked as he looked at the hysterical doctor. The baby was shielded from his the couple’s view for a blanket was wrapped around the body.

“Is there something wrong with my baby?” Molly asked worriedly.

The doctor grinned and looked back and forth between Molly and Carter’s faces, but eventually his gaze rested on Molly’s.

“It’s a miracle.” The doctor said, breathless from laughing so hard in joy.

Molly’s eyes opened and Carter’s grip on her hand tightened.

“Let me see my baby!” She demanded.

The doctor carried the baby over to her and handed it to her, glad that she didn’t rip the baby out of his arms. If she had done that, it would have harmed the infant.

Molly took her hand out of Carter’s grasp and undid the blanket that was covering the front of the baby’s body.

That was when tears started pouring out of her eyes and she squealed in happiness. She covered the baby back up and held her close to her.

Carter grinned and wrapped his arm around his wife’s shoulders while looking at the baby lovingly.

“Finally, my family’s prayers have been answered.” Carter said, looking up at the ceiling as a silent thanks to whoever was listening up above.

“We’re saved.” Carter’s wife murmured with a smile so bright it could light a room as she looked down at her child, as she looked down at the first ever daughter of the Celeste family.

“Carter, Molly, I think there’s something you two should know.” The doctor said staring at Molly’s belly, which was stills strangely inflated. He spoke with his eyes wide and with a nerves and timid voice, yet almost scared at the same time.

The two turned their cheerful faces only to see the doctor’s strange expression.

That’s when Molly finally took the initiative to look down at her stomach, what she saw made her gasp.

What was happening? Her stomach still looked like it did when she was carrying her daughter.

“Doctor, what’s wrong with my wife? I demand to know what’s going on.” Carter said firmly, glaring at the doctor.

“I-It would appear th-that your w-wife was c-carrying twins ins-stead of just o-one child. The s-second one has y-yet to c-come.” The doctor stuttered.

“What?” Molly asked, disbelief evident not only on her face but in her voice as well.

“Well, what are you waiting for; get the second one out before it suffocates!” Carters demanded. He would refrain from shouting for now, since his daughter was asleep in her mother’s arms.

“I’m afraid I cannot do that.” The doctor said.

“Why the heck not?” Carter asked.

“The baby isn’t ready to come out yet. We’ll just have to wait until you start to feel pain again, Molly.” The doctor said as he looked at the three of the Celeste family.

After a couple more hours of waiting, Molly finally broke the silence that had been lingering on them for quite some time. “I just don’t get it.” She said to her husband, as well as the doctor who was definitely listening, even though it was directed at him. “Why is the baby taking so long? When my friend had twins, the babies were but a mere few minutes apart. And I just don’t get why we’re having twins. The oracle said that on the day of the eclipse, I would have a daughter, not a daughter and another child. It’s the solar eclipse right now, but by the time this baby is going to come, it will no longer be an eclipse. As we speak, the eclipse is diminishing slowly but surely.”

“I…I just don’t know. After all this is over than we’ll go talk to the oracles. Until then, we just have to be patient.” Carter assured his wife.

After that, they went silent yet again.

Carter held his daughter when his wife whom had been sleeping woke up with a scream. She had been sleeping for a few hours now.

Carter covered his daughter’s ears while she screamed, hoping that she wouldn’t wake up, unfortunately, she did. Now, not only was his wife screaming, but his daughter was as well.

The doctor rushed to Molly’s side to find out what was wrong.

“It’s coming!” She shouted in pain.

Sure enough, when the doctor checked, there was a baby coming.

After a few minutes of the doctor telling Molly to push and Carter telling her to breathe, another screaming was added to the room they were currently in.

The screaming of the previous two had died down though.

Molly sighed in great relief as she looked at her now smaller stomach. She looked up at her husband and smiled, she received a smile back. That is until Carter caught the doctor’s expression. He turned his face to look at the doctor’s with a hint of seriousness. Molly turned her head as well to see what was going on.

The doctor’s eyes were wide, again, yet this time, wider. He stared in disbelief at the baby he had just cleaned.

He looked up at the couple and said weakly, “I-It’s a…a…girl.”

“What?” Molly asked in disbelief as well. How could she have given birth to two girls?

The doctor quickly recovered his sanity when he looked out of the window and up at the night sky.

“It’s a lunar eclipse.” He said in surprise. “Never have there been a solar eclipse and a lunar eclipse all in one day. It’s impossible.”

“I still don’t understand.” Molly said.

“The oracle said that on the day of the eclipse, your first born child would be a girl. But on today, there were two eclipses. That means that both times there was an eclipse, a daughter would be born. That’s why the second one took so long to come; it was waiting for the lunar eclipse. The oracle knew of this all along, that’s why she did not specify which kind of eclipse it would be, because it was both.” The doctor said as he looked back at the family and smiled.

“So…what? Now that the reincarnation has been born, the Celeste family can have daughters as often as everyone else?” Carter asked.

The doctor nodded his head. “I do believe so. Miracles occur every day. And you just received two in one day.” The doctor smiled and handed the second baby to Carter who had passed the first to Molly.

The doctor didn’t notice, but both Carter and Molly looked more lovingly at their first born rather than their second. They didn’t even spare their second a simple glance. Both infants were sleeping by now.

“What she we name them?” Carter asked his wife.

“I think we should name our first born Sophie. It’s such a beautiful name, don’t you think?” Molly said with a smile as she looked up into her husband’s face as he did the same.

“It’s perfect. And what about the other?” He said, indicating to their second born.

Molly thought for a moment and then said, looking back down at Sophie, “Melissa.”

And so it was then that the prophecy had begun.
