Crestfallen Angel
The snow paved forest laid an angel girl;
Her legs were drawn against her tear-stained cheeks
While strands of gold fell down to block her face.
A scenery of emptiness and death—
This world of white did not console her mood.
A silent, weeping statue she remained
Until a single flower caught her eye.
Her smoky, ashen wings of silk unfurled
As tenderly she rose and stood transfixed.
In solitude it gleamed with mystery...
Untouched by death it stood with loveliness.
Her fragile hand reached out and held it close
To cradle it against her chest with care.
A smile had finally spread across her face;
And splendid like the sun, she shone anew.
