“Please just tell me, its easier than all of your lying,” I whispered.
“What?” he retaliated with a look of hate in his eyes while his words were unfazed.
“Tell me you don’t love me,” I pleaded in a hushed tone. Tears were still fighting role down my face but I couldn’t, not in front of him.
“I… I…” He looked into my eyes, maybe just to make sure his answer was right or maybe just to say goodbye.
“I don’t love you,” he finally answered with a confusing look, a mix of hate, love, regret, and sorrow.
“Thank you.” I turned on my heel and left, but not before seeing his first tear fall down his face and letting him see my last one.

I don’t love you, like I loved you yesterday.- My Chemical Romance

Sometimes I hated this little town. Six thousand people crammed into a square mile plot of land, that’s what you get in Jersey. It was the kind of place where if you looked even a tad out of place people would send you glares and whisper to their neighbor.
Well those glares were exactly what I was getting right about now. I mean, its not everyday you see a puffy eyed girl running down the street, alone, on Halloween.
Oh god, don’t even think about Halloween, I thought to myself, not his birthday.
Yea, him… Josh Summers. The boy I always wanted, sadly it had taken me too long to realize it.
I’m guessing you want to know why I’m here, right? Why am I crying over him? Why was I at his house? Well lets start it here…
--
It started with a text message.
Hey you there? Its Jane.
I’m in church.
Txt me when you get out.
--Later--
I’m out, wat?
I just wanted to talk. U seemed mad at me yesterday.
Why do you think I’m always mad
Because u like ignore me and when u tlk to me u always seem mad… sry
I’m not
Ok. I’m sry it just always seems like u r. Things r different between us then they used to b.
And guess what? No reply from Josh… big surprise.

You used to talk to me, like I was the only one around.- Daughtry

And he still wouldn’t talk to me, whenever I walked up to him he’d find an excuse to leave… every time.
I mean sure I did get in a fight with his best friend and Josh just happened to get dragged in, but come on. And to tell you the truth, he was my best friend before he was Anthony’s.
And the second worst part is… I had a HUGE like… crush on his best friend. And I told him over the phone and well, his response wasn’t exactly nice…
--Flashback--
“But Josh I like him!” I screamed into the phone.
“I know, its so goddamn obvious!” He screamed back.
“Stop yelling at me!”
“Look call me back later when you calm down,” and he hung up on me, the crying girl by the soccer field.
--End Flashback--
So for the next three weeks I dealt with him avoiding me and missing talking to him for an hour each night.
But on the fourth week I decided to do something about it, I was finally going to talk to him, and not just anywhere or anytime but on his birthday, Halloween. Because what’s a better surprise than your ex-best friend on your front door step on your birthday with a bag of candy?
Oh, and you know how I told you the second worst part, well here’s the first…
Not even 12 hours after that phone call I fell in love with Josh Summers.

So here I am again, running down the street, actually now I just sat down on a nice little swing at the lake. You know, it made me think of the simpler times. But goddamn’it even these swings held memories of him, everything did.
“Hey stranger.” I jumped as someone walked up to the swings and sat in the one next to me.
“Hey Ben.” I had recognized him, with his lean figure and dark hair and eyes. Even at night they were noticeable.
“Feeling okay?” he asked calmly while propelling himself on the swing.
“What are you doing here? You don’t even live here,” I laughed.
“I asked my parents if I could trick or treat in West Maple this year.”
“Oh.”
“Look is something bothering you? You look like you’ve been crying.”
“Its just Josh.”
“Oh, did he do anything to you?” he asked sounding as if he’d kill Josh if he had.
“No, I just realized he doesn’t want me around anymore. He doesn’t love me anymore.” And that’s when the tears started once more.
“Oh no,” he stopped his swing and dried my eyes, “Look neither him nor Anthony are worth it. You’re too good for them.
“Not according to them.”
“They don’t matter,” he looked into my eyes with such love and care that I had to smile.
“Thanks Ben, you’re the best.”
“No you are.” And I had to smile again.
“So how’d you just happen to be at Crestwood tonight?” I asked gesturing to the lake.
“Had a hunch something special would be here.”
“Oh.”
“And Jane?”
“Yea?”
“No matter what Josh did, I will not take my love away.”
“I know.” And I looked back into the eyes of the boy who saved me knowing he was telling the truth.

Little did I know Ben would keep his promise. He’d go over to Josh’s house, punch him in the face and tell him what he was missing. After that I always knew that I had found my prince charming and that he would never take his love away.
Oh and for a dedication,
This ones out to you Nicky.
