The Fairy Tale Ending

All her tears

Mixed with the rain

She feels the sadness

She feels the pain

A broken heart

Hurts so much

Sitting alone

Afraid of being touched

He said “It’s over;

We’re all through”

Meanwhile her head’s screaming

“But I still love you!”

He smiles at her from across the room...

Who’d have thought this would happen so soon?

All around her, her world is sinking...

All the while, she can’t help thinking...

“I thought we would last

And never be a thing of the past

I long, again, for the feel of your skin

But you shatter me with every breath you take in.”

The way he looks at her

Screams romance

And lets her think

She has a second chance

She pulls herself together

And manages a grin

She can’t help but remember

How her life was with him

Silence screaming in both of their ears...

Yelling to them all of their deepest fears...

They’re both doing the same exact thing...

All the while, he can’t help thinking...

“I thought we would last

And never be a thing of the past

He takes her in his arms again

Like their “once upon a time”

She thinks that maybe “happily ever after”

Will be their ending line

Smiles spread wide

Glowing from their delight

He’s realized she is the one

He closes his eyes

Sighs

And holds her tight

He smiles at her from above her head...

All the while he’s smiling because he can’t believe she said...
