Saturn and the Sun
It's always small hours;
a watch in base eight.
Keeping the company
of the shift workers
in billiard rooms.
It's out of phase,
but unfazed.
Club beer and fast food.
Leather jackets, and
a uniform of jammy
bottoms:
a nod to the norm,
only passing reference.
Aquainted with rats
and midnight power
joggers;
a decade too late.
Reruns and news review
is the breakfast telly.
prime time is the
teacher's zone,
and the late night slot is
kids TV.
Read friday's news on
sunday's morning.
Two days' grace,
and then back
to suit and tie.
Nine and five.
Killing time.
