- Cold -
There she lay alone
In the cold winter’s
night
Moon is dull and snow
is strong
Freezing her to the
bone
Frightened, she rose
Finding solace in the
dead
Graves not mourning
Only telling of hope
She looked at one grave
Reading every word
/Rose/ said the name
At seventeen she died
/How sad/ she thought
/Her life, so short/
She kissed the grave
As if to comfort it
The snow fell harder
A chill ran down her
And then she knew
The girl named /Rose/
Buried under her feet
Was someone she knew
/Rose/ was herself
She was dead, a ghost
Frozen she stood
More alone than before
And she laid back down
Hoping to reunite
With the body she knew
