I hear the echoes of the rain
Strumming, running down the drains
Rhythmic droplets hit the panes
Melodies that shout your name

I see your face there
In the window as I stare, where
The storm calls to you and me
It’s the place we’re meant to be

It rouses all my memories
Long work hours, foolish curtseys
Those days when it rained
Recollections once the same

Unburdened happiness that could not last
Was born in storms of summers past
Drenched within that driving rain
It exonerated all our pain

Faces flushed with laughter
Unbeknownst then, but never after
Of the trials soon to come
Have I lost or have I won?

Question answered in the thunder
It made me free and fixed my blunder
It’s worth all the tears and pain
‘Cause you make me feel like I’m in the rain
