Spellbinders and Crosses
Two Stories in one just in time for Halloween…Crosses
Prologue:
She stared dejectedly out the car window at the large house that her father had recently bought. Sitting next to her was her younger brother Adam who was just as enthused as she was. Only days ago she was back in her home city of Chicago enjoying the sounds of traffic rushing by. She had grown up there nearly all her life and was not looking forward to moving to a small town. Especially a town that had no malls or stores of interest to speak of. In fact when her father had driven their old station wagon through the town all she could see was a few churches, small novelty shops, and a large cemetery that was close to her new high school. As she climbed out of the car after her brother she sighed heavily as her father Tim walked over and embraced both of his children tightly.
“Well what do you two think? Isn’t it beautiful? I can’t believe I got it at such a great price too.”
“This place looks creepy” Allie frowned up at her father tossing her long mahogany hair behind her shoulders after pulling it out of the ponytail.
“Ditto” Adam nodded.
“I know it looks a little strange” Tim smiled again as he lifted the door of the trunk, “But go take a look at your rooms before you criticize.”
Allie and Adam looked at each other and then dashed inside, Adam getting to the door first which was surprisingly open. He looked back at his older sister before they slowly walked into the main hall the floor creaking slightly as they moved along the floor. When they reached the steps they both ran up, Allie once more behind her brother. He ran into the first room to the left and claimed it as his own. Allie merely smiled at his sudden enthusiasm and decided to take the room all the way down the hall. When she opened the dusty door she was delighted to see a large window at the very center of the room. A pair of white curtains were billowing in the wind since the window was open so she walked over to close it. As she pulled on one of the doors of the window she noticed the large forest to her right and as she glimpsed it she noticed a strange figure staring up at her. As she blinked to make sure she had seen what she thought the wind picked up rapidly pushing her away from the window a little. When she looked back down the dark haired stranger was gone. Scratching her head she closed the remainder of the window and then ran down to the car to assist her father with the boxes. Meanwhile down in the woods the dark figure moved away with a menacing grin, his sharp fangs apparent as he smiled.

Prologue:
The old woman bent over the large cauldron examining the latest trouble. Her grey hair was standing on end as she witnessed another curse being placed. Suddenly the side door opened and another graying old woman entered the room.
“What have you seen?” the first asked.
“It’s as you feared I’m afraid. They are getting stronger everyday. They even have the dark creatures on their side. What are we to do?”
“Don’t panic” she shook her head with a frown towards the other as she moved away from the cauldron, “If things have turned out the way I have foreseen then there is only one other alternative. I have to go to Indiana and fetch her.”
“But are you sure she will be ready by this time? I mean she is very young.”
“Never mind you that” the first shook her head, “That is my problem. Quickly make preparations for my journey. It is a long way to The United States from here after all.”
“I will prepare” the second nodded her head and departed with a worried expression.
The first sighed silently to herself and turned to a large clock on the wall that was black and red in color. She walked back over to the cauldron and began to stir the green misty liquid.
“She is young” she thought, “But she is the only one who can do this.”
(Next Scene)
The orange, red, and brown leaves fell around her as she crunched her way down the street. Next to her a black cat followed his yellow eyes intent on watching her every move. She stopped under a large tree her light brown eyes shining as she plucked a yellow leaf from the branches and brushed it against her cheek.
“And what do you think you’re doing dawdling young lady” someone said in a clear English accent.
The teen looked down at the black cat as he leapt up next to her on a fence and stared at her with a frown.
“We were supposed to be home over a half hour ago” he replied his yellow eyes shining.
“I know. But I just couldn’t help myself. I love this time of year. Especially Halloween. I can’t wait for that.”
“Well it’s natural that someone like you loves that particular holiday Corrin” he said jumping back down to the ground, “But it’s not a reason to be late to meet your mother.”
“Since when do you care?” she grinned as she pulled a piece of her long brown hair behind her ear, “My mother is not exactly your favorite person in the world.”
“True, but if we don’t hurry home you’ll never get to finish up remember?” he reminded her.
“Oh right” she gasped stopping and then picking up speed at once, “Come on Mistoffelees!” she called, “We don’t want to be late!”
“That’s what I have been saying” he shouted back, “Oh what’s the use. It is no good talking to young witches like her. Corrin wait up!!!!” he called out as he dashed after her his black tail swinging back and forth.
