Love In the Eyes of Ice

Love in the eyes of ice is a frigid grasping hand,

Sliding around the heart

Stretching

As a cruel golden band.

I say ‘I love’ to a pretty face

And ‘My love, I love you too.’

But then I find that flirty shade

That lingers near to woo.

Whispers within honey drops that sweeten to a poison

And the floating air

Upon which we care

To dance as rivers run.

And run we shall to secret shades

Or for ice we’ll slip away

Perhaps to rise as the sun doth rise

May we regret the need to stray.

A chill of sorts climbs up my spine in the shakiest of ladders

Not for you

Or of I

Can see the brain grow madder.

Though

That shiny tiny band of gold may mesmerize the heart,

The mind behind those eyes of ice ne’er fails to be smart.

Cruel they are,

Those minds of ice

So shall we try to not

Hold those trapped within our heart

When ours was never what they sought.

But this,

Think twice.

Is only in the eyes of ice…
