Note: This is the first story I have ever written. I wrote this two years ago, had it posted for a little while but then took it down. I haven't changed it at all except put it through spell check. I know it’s kinda crappy but it was my first story.
Reviews are wanted and would be appreciated. You Review me, I Review you. If this story gets some decent reviews I might continue it. I have 5 original chapters that I will post over the next few days. Enjoy, I guess...
ZERO – THE BLACK PROPHECY
BY : RAIN
CHAPTER 1 – IN THE SHADOWS
JULIAN
I watched in horror as the blade slid through Alpo’s stomach. Blood squeezed past his fingers, oozing to the floor. He shrieked in agony, crumbling to the floor. I tried to say something but I was choking on my words. He was going to die and I couldn’t do anything to help.
I watched helplessly from my dark cell. I turned away so not to watch the horrific scene. Soon the screams would stop and it would all be over, but I knew that I would be next. So very soon would I be the one on the floor bleeding to death, begging my executioner to just finish me off, to release me from the pain, my pain.
"Julian," I heard a faint whisper coming from the corner cell next to me. I nodded to acknowledge I had heard her. There I sat on the cold hard floor on my damp, empty cell, watching as the blood from my dead cell mate, Alpo, slowly crept toward me in a dark ominous manner. The cell’s we were in were small and damp. Small straw beddings were put onto the floor to allow us something to sleep on. Not much, but something none the less. The cells were bare, nothing but a bared window six feet above the ground, to high to look out of. You could see into each cell. The walls were nothing but bars, original piece of work, huh?
"Julian," she worriedly repeated, her long black hair falling over her eyes, trying to hide the tears that fell onto her green camo tank top. Her long hair drooped low, down to the middle of her back I’d say. Her eyes were becoming swollen and puffy from crying. "We have to get out of here." Once again I acknowledged her with a nod.
"Don’t worry Anna," I replied, the shock of my cell mates death replaying in my mind over and over again, and “Red is already working on a plan to get us out. It should only be a matter of hours before our feline friend saves our asses once again." I gave her a cocky glance. She looked away and began to stare at the corner, as if there was something there only she could see.
"Kade can’t stay here any longer." She said quietly, "He’s just a kid, we need to leave this world soon or he won’t last long."
I shot a worried glance toward Kade, who was lying, fast asleep in Anna’s bedding. She was right; he wasn’t looking all that good. Sweat was falling down his pale face, plastering his silver hair tightly against his head. We needed to leave this dump soon, not just for Kade’s sake but for ours as well.
I slowly got up off the cold floor and walked to my straw bedding. Red would be here soon with some way out of this god forsaken place. He would show up right? I looked back over to where Alpo was stabbed to death just moments ago, the sickening game of the hellish guards who brutally tortured us day by day. Latzl was the guard that did all the merciless slaughtering. The fact was that on this planet. Humans were animals, nothing but dirt and Tyens were treated less than that. What I witnessed today was not new. It seemed too happened constantly without any repentance and Sam was the executioner "hurry Red" I thought to myself.
The full moon was bright that night, shining through my barred window giving my cell a faint glow. With little fuss about Alpo‘s death, the night was silent. Latzl, the guard on duty was snoozing close to my cell, fast asleep. I was beginning to doze off on a pitiful excuse of a bed when I heard something at my window.
"Psssssst, wake up." I heard. "Psssst, wake up stupid, were here to save you!"
"Shut up, they’ll hear you!" I seethed. I peered about to make sure that none of the guards had heard the commotion. I turned to the cell Anna was in. Watching as she slowly slid to the corner of her cell, closest to mine.
"Rip?! Is that you? Where’s Red?" she whispered.
"He’s getting our ride." Rip grunted. "Stupid pussy cat, he can’t do a thing without me."
"Shut up!" I hissed. I peered around the corner of my cell again to see that Latzl was still asleep. Lucky us. Slowly I pulled myself up to the window where Rip was.
"So what’s your plan on getting us the hell out of here?" I hissed through the bars.
"Easy," he sighed, "all we got to do is wait for Red, he’s the one with the master plan not me. I’m just along for the ride."
I glared at Rip one last time before jumping down from the window, sliding over to Anna’s corner to check and see how Kade was doing.
"We should wake him." I murmured quietly. "If we can." She gave me a quick glare and then went back to staring at the something only she could see.
"I don’t get it," she said. "What could have happened to him?
"In the place that we found him in it’s kind of hard to picture what he went through." I whispered.
"What are you two girlys talkin’ about?" Rip whispered. He was struggling to get his head through the bars to see what we were doing. He quickly gave up when he wasn’t successful and laid down putting his head on his paws. "Fine, don’t talk to me." I rolled my eyes and got up to tell him the news.
"We picked up this kid on our mission to check out the beast that was giving the Xau town so much trouble." I began. "We found the kid in its cave. I don’t know the story with this kid, but it seemed to me that he went in there to kill the thing or something. We found his sorry excuse of a sword shattered into pieces not far from him. We can't say what happened but when we showed up, that Beastie was nothing but splatter on the cave wall. Anna got the kid conscious for a second. All we got was his name before he passed out again. Not much else we know though."
"What’s the kid’s name?" Rip asked, his eyes showing some interest.
"Kade," I said. "He said his name is Kade." Rip looked at me with even more interest showing in his eyes.
"Kade," he repeated. "The mission you were given was to execute the crazed beast that was torturing the town, become the hero, ect… ect…and get a recruit or two for our growing organization! Not some stray dying in a cave."
"Shut up you stupid dog! I can do whatever the hell I want." I began to stalk off back to the corner where Anna was when I heard Rip begin to speaking again.
"What’s so special about this kid anyways?" he asked me. "Let me see him." Before I could say anything, Rip jumped up from where he was laying and rushed over to Anna’s window. He peered inside and scanned her dark cell until he found Kade. He looked about 14 years old. Like Julian he had spiky silver hair that stuck out in all angles. He had two fresh scars across his right eye which looked like the beast in cave could have given him, never know. His shirt was gone leaving nothing but torn and clawed skin underneath. He also had a long empty black sword case attached to his belt around his waist from where his broken sword should have been.
"Oh," Rip whispered almost too quite to hear, "I think I understand now." He turned his head slightly to look at me.
"He does look a bit like him," he said softly, "but it won’t bring back your brother. Crale is gone. Accept that."
