2 Months Later ...

Jennifer sat down curiously next to Vanessa, who was rummaging through her closet, obviously looking for something. She seemed more nervous than usual, and Jennifer was actually worried. She sometimes questioned how her and Vanessa were even friends in the first place. There was so many differences between them; Vanessa was finally eighteen, and Jennifer was turning twenty three in a few months. Vanessa hated makeup, and gossip, and shopping, whereas Jennifer loved it. There was so many things that Jennifer could list about her and Vanessa differences, but then she thought, it was the differences between the two girls that made them such good friends in the first place.

Jennifer could remember the first time she had ever met Vanessa. She was a scrawny, tomboyish little thirteen year old. Jennifer had watched Vanessa grow up, and she had definitely changed since then. Vanessa was now a beautiful, strong, passionate young woman, whether she liked makeup and shopping or not.

“What are you doing?” She asked, as Vanessa almost tripped over the pile of clothes lying next to her.

“I need to find something to wear,” She said, but before Jennifer could reply with an offer of something that belonged to her, Vanessa interrupted, “As much as I would love to feel like a mannequin again, no thanks.” Jennifer nodded, and laughed. She had known that her and Vanessa's style was very, very different, but Vanessa looked so elegant, and stunning in Jennifer's clothes, that she could be a model. “I need something that suits me.” She said. “And I can't seem to find one goddamn thing that I haven't worn already!”

Jennifer laughed. “May I ask why?”

Vanessa sighed. “Lucas called, he wants me to meet him somewhere, I don't know where. He promised I wouldn't need to get all dolled up, but he said it was going to be … special.” Jennifer's eyes widened, and a small gasp escaped her mouth. “What? What is it?”

Jennifer smiled devilishly. “I think you know exactly what it is, Vanessa Devlin.” She said, giving her a wink.

Vanessa was clueless. She had no idea what Lucas or Jennifer were talking about at the moment, or if they were talking about the same thing for that matter. “Jennifer, explain, please.”

Jennifer rolled her eyes at how oblivious Vanessa was. She knew exactly what Lucas wanted, and she didn't blame him. The pair had been seriously dating for ten months now, and still hadn't … done anything. “Vanessa, I'm not telling you. You're going to have to wait until you get … wherever you're going, or until you figure it out yourself, which you probably won't.” She laughed.

Vanessa pouted. “Please Jennifer? I need to know! I need to be prepared! Give me a clue or something.”

Jennifer smirked. “Well, let's just say … no matter what you decide to wear, you're gonna end up taking it off.” Jennifer said, winking and then getting up, and heading for the doorway.

Vanessa's eyes widened. Lucas wanted to have sex with her? Well, that was obvious but … she didn't know if she wanted to have sex with him. She did, but she wasn't sure if she was ready. She trusted Lucas, more than anyone in the whole world, but she wasn't sure if she was ready to have sex. She didn't know how, and he was so experienced … “I'm calling him, and telling him I can't make it!” Vanessa announced.

“No you are not!” Jennifer snapped. “Vanessa, come on! It's not even hard! All you have to do-”

“I don't want to know.” Vanessa breathed. She was going to have a panic attack, she just knew it. What if she ended up pregnant? Being an intern in a hospital, she had seen many pregnant women before, and she had seen all the pain that they have to go through while giving birth. She didn't want to have to go through that until she was at least thirty.

“If you're worried about getting pregnant,” Jennifer said, as if reading her mind. “I have birth control, and I'm sure Lucas would use a condom.”

“Their not always 100 effective!” She whined. “Jen, I don't know if I can do this. I don't know if I'm ready.”

Jennifer laughed, and ran to Vanessa's side. Slipping her arm around her shoulder, she hugged her tightly. “Baby, don't worry. Everything will be alright, I promise. You trust Lucas, don't you?” She asked.

“Of course I do.” Vanessa replied, without hesitation.

“Okay, then, there's nothing to be worried about. It'll hurt a little, but you'll have Lucas there, he'll take care of you, I know it.”

After many hours of convincing, Vanessa decided she was going to see Lucas tonight, whether he wanted to have sex with her or not, she didn't care, she just wanted to be with him. She chose to wear a simple white short sleeved t-shirt, and a pair of old jeans. She finally felt like herself again.

She moved passed the boxes of clothes, and Jennifer's things, as she was moving out of the apartment to live with Dave. Jennifer gave her one last hug, and wished her good luck, until she was on her own.

Lucas had asked to pick her up, but she said she would rather take the train. He had left her directions at his dorm, and after picking them up, she was quite confused as to where she was going, as the directions read “1834 9th Street, Santa Monica”

“What the hell is he doing in Santa Monica?” She said to herself.

It had been her first time taking the train to Santa Monica, and she enjoyed watching all the people getting on and off the stops. She would always play this game when she was either on the bus or on the train, she would find someone interesting and imagine in her head where they were going, why they took the train, maybe one was going to visit his Mexican lover in Santa Monica, or another was going to visit his children in New York City because his ex-wife had won the custody case. It was a fun way to pass the time while on a bus or a train, and she enjoyed it.

Once she had finally arrived in Santa Monica, she took a bus to 9th street. She was surprised when she found out that it just a condo, and nothing “special”. She spotted Lucas standing in front of the second unit, and quickly ran up to him, jumping in his arms.

He inhaled the beautiful smell of coconut, and smiled. She looked more beautiful than ever before, in just a white t-shirt, and jeans. He loved that she didn't feel the need to get all dressed up for him all the time, and knew that her attire the past few months had been under the influence of Jennifer. Not that he didn't like the way she looked when she was all dolled up, but he preferred her in clothes that she was comfortable in, clothes that made her who she was.

“You look beautiful today, babe.” He whispered in her ear, and grabbed her hand.

“Why thank you.” She said, smiling. “May I ask what the hell where doing in Santa Monica?” She said, keeping her smile.

He laughed, and then pointed to the building next to him. Vanessa had to admit that it was beautiful. It was a tan brown, and there were beautiful red roses planted along the pathway to the staircase. Lucas tugged on Vanessa's hand, and brought her to the front door. He smiled, knowing that she didn't know what was going on.

He pushed the door open, and yelled, “Surprise!”

Vanessa was in awe. The condo was more beautiful on the inside than on the outside. When you walked in, there was a long hallway that finally led to the bedroom, but to your right was apparently a guest bedroom. To your left was the living room, she guessed, as there was a brown leather love seat and a nice sized television across from it. The lighting seemed perfect for this time of the day, and Vanessa smiled when Lucas led her into the kitchen. It was a little small, but perfect to Vanessa's likings. The cabinets were painted all white, as were the appliances. The counter was a tan brown tile, and the back drop was painted an off white, along with the rest of the room. The kitchen led into a small dinning room, equipped with a round, black table, with four matching black chairs. The room was painted the same off white as the kitchen, and the bay window let in just the right amount of sun to make the room brighter.

Without a word, Lucas brought Vanessa into the master bedroom. It was beautiful. It was a perfect size for two people, and was painted a light creamy color, that Vanessa fell in love with. The bed was perfect, and Vanessa loved the way it felt on her back. She could sleep there for hours.

After showing her the rest of the house, which was just the two bathrooms, and the backyard, Vanessa finally wanted to know what was going on. “Lucas …” She started.

He grinned. “Do you like it?”

She smiled. “I love it, it's beautiful, but why are we here? Doesn't this belong to someone?”

He smirked, happy that she had put it that way. “Yeah, us.”

Vanessa's eyes widened. “You bought this?”

“Well, not yet. I put down an offer, wanted to see if you liked it first …” He said, smiling.

“Are you serious?”

“Of course I'm serious. Vanessa, I've been planning this for months. You've been talking about moving to Santa Monica ever since the day I first met you. So, I started looking around, and there weren't many options, but when I saw this one, it just reminded me of you, and I needed to put an offer on it before anyone else bought it, so … what do you think?” He asked. “Do you want to move in with me?”

This was it, she thought. The moment that would change her forever. She pushed him onto the bed, and quickly jumped on top of him. Kissing him so passionately, that he barely recognized her. She felt him smile, as her kisses grew more and more passionate.

“I'll take that as a yes?” He asked, smiling. He was quite surprised at what she was doing. She had pulled his shirt off, and tossed it to the side. He quickly lifted himself up, so his back was on the wall. She wrapped her legs around his torso, and let him plant small kiss around her stomach. She lifted off her shirt, and un-did her bra.

Lucas could barely breath at the sight of her. She was more beautiful than he had ever imagined. It seemed to be only seconds before Vanessa was naked on on the bed.

“My god, I need to be inside you …” Lucas groaned.

Lucas shifted into position, kissing his way up Vanessa's chest. Vanessa uneasily handed him a condom and he straddled her, his teeth ripping the square open. In one fluid motion, he put the condom on. She wrapped her legs around him again and clung by her hands to his shoulders and upper back. Her moan vibrated against his neck as he entered her.

He looked down at her, as he slowly moved in and out of her, knowing that this was her first time. He couldn't even remember his, he had been too drunk to even remember the girl's name. “Does it hurt?” He asked it.

She nodded slightly, as she felt a few tears rolling down her face. “Oh, Vanessa! Don't cry, I'll stop …” He said.

She shook her head. “No, don't. I don't want this to end. The pain'll go away, I promise, I'll be fine.”

He nodded, as they rocked together, their voices hoarse and rising with mutual pleasure. Lucas buried his face at the crook of her neck, and kissed her gently.

“I love you,” He heard her whisper.

He smiled, “I love you too, Vanessa. Don't ever doubt that for a second, okay?” She nodded, the pain didn't stop, but it still felt amazing to have Lucas inside of her. “You're beautiful, you're perfect … you're everything I ever wanted.”

She smiled, sweetly. “Lucas, guess what?”

“What?” He asked, as he continued giving her sweet kisses on her jawline, moving down to her neck.

She leaned her head against his. “I'm in love with my bus driver.”

The End.
