A/N: Here's the story: This is actually a little excerpt from a fanfiction I wrote for the movie Swing Kids, but I liked what I wrote so much that I thought I'd post it here as a little vignette or something.
Everyone says that when you die,
your life flashes before your eyes
or that they think of their loved ones.
But they,
obviously,
have never experienced it.
You don't have enough time to run through your whole life in the seconds you have before death.
Sheer,
animal,
natural
instinct takes over,
and there is only one thing on your mind -- survival.
You will do anything to escape
whatever is coming at you.
Whatever is there, you
run.
There is no truth,
there is no honor,
no nobility,
no dignity.
Because when you are fighting to
survive,
when you are
seconds away from being
murdered . . .
that's all you can think about.
The person you think you are does not take over --
your morals,
principles...
nothing
matters.
The thing that you truly are --
a human being --
takes over.
