Confessions
Sometimes,
I walk by the old bakery on 5th street,
Just to imagine what it would be like,
To be in cinnamon rolls
Sitting on the front counter.
Sometimes,
I drive to places
I am not familiar with,
Just to see if I can find my way home.
Sometimes,
I light three candles
In the early morning,
And shoot the breeze
With the Almighty One;
You might not think that he answers,
But with enough patience his voice rings clear.
Sometimes,
I sit alone in a café,
Just to see if someone
Will be curious enough to sit at my table,
And engage in a long conversation
About nothing.
Sometimes,
I go to subway,
And have the “professional” behind the counter,
Make me their favorite sub.
Sometimes,
I give away everything I have,
Just to appreciate
The blessings God has given me.
Sometimes,
I sit in the science fiction section
Of Barnes and Nobel
And read for hours on end.
Sometimes,
I sing and dance in the shower;
And I don’t care who hears.
Sometimes,
I go to Wal-Mart with my friends,
And spend hours
Goofing around in the toy section.
Sometimes,
I wonder,
How many licks it really takes
To get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.
Sometimes,
The lack of intelligence
Government officials possess…
Astounds me.
Sometimes,
I stay up all night,
Thinking about
The physics of JELLO.
Sometimes,
I spend so much time at the computer,
That I feel naked,
When I’m not holding
The mouse or keyboard
In my hands.
Sometimes,
I wonder if I was left here
By aliens;
Sometimes,
My mom wonders too.
Sometimes,
I talk to my car
To pass the time,
While I am driving
Around town.
Sometimes,
I call people
I haven’t talked to in years,
Just to see if they remember me.
Sometimes,
I wonder,
Why the people
I watch on television
Are famous.
Sometimes,
I listen to the radio,
Just to see if they’ll play
My favorite song.
Sometimes,
I’ll spend the whole day
Watching Disney films
With my sister.
Sometimes,
I read online journals,
And leave encouraging messages
To people I barely know.
Sometimes,
I tell people I’ve just met,
A little too much
About my life.
Sometimes I…
Can’t think of
The right words to say.
Sometimes,
I wish I could tell all of this,
To the people in my life
That really matter.
