The Friday night lights look so gorgeous as I lay my lips upon yours
because alone we are up here on the edges of stars, ready to jump
little golden trophy sitting atop his pedestal so viciously gained, so easily kept
it's me, you, and the stars pretty boy. hold my hand
are you still ready to jump with me into the unknown; places neither of us understand
but just as one foot falls into the abyss her footsteps echo from behind our backs
and I'm left to fall alone, headfirst into forever as you turn around to see who disturbs our silence
her porcelain face lit up and beautiful from the spark she has for you
the spark that burns out every time you satisfy her desire and she leaves you again
as the black encases my entire being I'm left with a vision of the two of you
shadows on the bright, burning surface of the universe
pointing, laughing, shouting at how naïve the little blue-eyed girl always ends up being
screaming 'toughen up baby girl, it only gets harder from here'
she grasps your hand in hers and you go to jump until another beauty comes along
pretty little boy, your pedestal just got a couple inches taller, didn't it?
Little naïve blue eyes left falling into forever bouncing from star to star; from romance to romance
praying she won't fall so hard next time; 'God, are you listening?'
