Author's Note: Here you go: your poem and my shattered heart.

My shattered heart

What is this feeling,

this numbness in my heart?

I have this faint recollection

of this piercing pain that makes me write.

I always found it great

that I never wrote poems of you

since in my experience they've been

only shallow feelings of angst or hurt.

But now I find myself writing,

after talking with you,

and I wish I could make you sure

that our love is actual and true.

I guess the joke's on me

as you dwindle between the questions,

Should I forget her?

Are we meant to be?

My tears are flowing freely

gently warming my cheeks

My hopes of being with you

shall remain enclosed in my dreams.

I guess I did bring this on myself;

I guess that only time will tell.
