Forget

My heart leaps every time I see you,

Speeds up whenever you look my way,

Sinks when you don’t notice me

And I realize you don’t feel the way I do.

--

I know very well what I’d love to say,

The words always floating around in my head;

But then I have to bite them off

As I watch you walk away.

--

Chorus:

It’s time for me to let you go.

It’s time for me to forget

And move on with my life

Instead of pining so.

It’s time for me to forget

Instead of twisting further the knife.

--

I wish so much that you would see

While I try to convince myself to acknowledge

Instead of watching you with those other girls

And doubting that it is to be.

--

My heart lies useless, dead

As I watch you walk out with her.

I turn away trying to pretend it doesn’t hurt

And dwell on all that I should’ve said.

--

Chorus

--

Floating around, always in my head,

Thrusting it deeper into my heart,

Trying, trying to escape,

Breathless with the pain every time I see…

--

Chorus

--

It’s time for me to forget.
