Within a Black Heart

I feel the claws gripping my heart

Ripping, pulling, tearing

Shedding apart all feeling,

All sense of humanity

I feel a scream fighting to escape,

Who am I to fight such power?

Blood pulses in my veins

And the scream fights its way out

So loud I can’t hear it,

Only a buzzing in my ears

Telling the world of my misery

Reminding me forcefully that I am nothing

My hand falls to my side,

My wrists weeping with blood

Blood sings with ecstasy

Revelling in the freedom I have relinquished

I fall away from all I love

Darkness obscuring my vision

Blinding me from the horrors of the world

A blessing and a curse never to be forgiven

A single tear falls down the curve of my cheek

Everything is gone; the tear is blood

I feel my life fall away from me

Falling forever into the black oblivion of insanity
