AN: While listening to Tori Amos' cover of "Vincent." Title from one of Van Gogh's works. Do I need to warn you that it's about two men?

Portrait of Père Tanguy

I’d be painting his palette gold and it would be a dramatic deviation

from the day to day gray and black which is why

He cannot use my hue

On the tip of his brush

-

I’d be a portrait of Dorian Gray or Horace or some other glowing

superficial fuck with hair flaxen and fingers spread and filled up with rings

And he’d be a sallow Alfred J. or a dark-eyed servant

or some other thing

-

I’d be tainting his perfectly damaged canvas, his life’s work of black and gray

The cherub’s eyes would be blue and not crimson

And he’d never have it that way
