Chapter Six
I know I suck, but finally I have updated. Sorry it has taken so long but please review! Other wise I won’t continue this story. Note: I will be putting up a new story soon so look out!
I met up with Alaska and Robbie at the Oak Tree. When I got there, they were arguing about where to go for lunch.
“Maccy D’s is so much tastier than Subway!” Robbie protested.
“Subway is healthy!” Alaska shot back with a glare.
“Maccy D’s can be healthy; you just have to order the right thing! Their salads - ”
“Are full of fat! Mac Donald’s food is all fat. ” Alaska saw me walking over and smiled before glaring back at Robbie. Robbie also looked over at me then crossed his arms before asking me, “Hey Jenna. Where would you rather go, Mac D’s or Subway?” I smiled. They were both so much like each other – arrogant.
“Actually, I really feel like Burger King; anyone with me?” I asked. They both nodded, probably realizing that I would never play favoritism.
We all scooted into a booth in the corner of Burger King and Robbie went up to order our food and drinks. Alaska had been sulking the whole way in the car a refused to talk to Robbie.
“What’s up Ally?” I asked, trying to comfort her.
“He is such a snert.” She grumbled.
“Snert?”
“Snot-nosed egotistical rude teenager.” I laughed. And laughed. And laughed until tears were rolling down my face. Robbie came back with our tray off, and had a questioning look on his face wondering why we were both laughing with tears steaming out of our eyes.
“What’s wrong with you two?” He asked, placing the tray of food down. I gained enough oxygen to breath and answered.
“She… She called you a snert.” I began having a giggles fit all over again. His face got even more confused. “Snert?”
“Snot-nosed egotistical rude teenager.” Alaska and I blurted out, both of us still laughing. I opened my eyes in time to see Robbie slump in his chair and cross his arms in frustration. That sent me into a laughing-fit all over again.
Robbie sighed. “Can we just eat, please?” Ally and I finally calmed down and ate quietly but I could tell that both of us were still thinking about it. I bit into my cheese-burger and looked at Alaska at the same she looked at me which sent me into another fit. Robbie groaned. “You two are so immature! I’m going to the bathroom.” He got up, grumpily, and headed to the men’s room.
“If he were a girl, I’d be able to say it was that time of month.” I commented. Alaska laughed, and then nodded in agreement.
When Robbie came back, we both apologized for being ‘immaturity’. Robbie just nodded and we headed back to school for our last classes of the day. I said good-bye to Robbie as Alaska and I walked off together, for our next class: Visual Art.
We both sat down at a table situated at the side, not my usual table at the back. I smiled at the fact that I finally had someone to sit next to while Miss. Clouford talked about Picasso’s style of art. Apart from when Dean was at school. Miss. Clouford hadn’t arrived yet, but neither had half the class. We silently watched the class arrive. The last few people were arriving when I felt Alaska stiffen beside me. I looked at her questioning but saw that she was staring with wide eyes at the door. I followed where her eyes were staring at. It was a tall, dark, handsome boy strolling in the room. I smiled, knowing that Alaska was just the handsome Sebastian Collins’ type.
“Like what you see?” He asked towards Alaska, who was still inspecting him. She woke up from her day-dream realizing he was talking to her.
“W… What?” She stammered.
“I asked if you liked what you see. It was pretty obvious that you were ogling me.” Sebastian smirked mischievously at Alaska. Her face turned from a blush to an angry red.
“You snert!” She snapped at him. I was really going to have to give her some lessons on flirting with boys that you think are gods.
“Snert?” He questioned. I guess it was Alaska’s word.
“Snot-nosed egotistical rude teenager.” She announced proudly. Sebastian’s eyes widened, almost with a hint of defeat in them. Alaska got up and poked him in the chest at every word she said, “I do not ogle at selfish, ego-filled boys.” She stopped poking him, and placed her hands on hips. Sebastian’s face lit up, as he skimmed over her body, lingering at her chest a little to long for her liking. “Move it!” She barked.
“As thy fine lady desires.” Sebastian bowed half-heartedly in a flirtatious way and walked two desks behind us. Alaska sat back down and slumped down in her chair - blushing. Then Miss. Clouford walked into the room, apologized for her lateness, and started writing on the chalkboard.
I leaned over to Alaska’s ear and whispered, “His names Sebastian Collins.” She huffed and exclaimed a little to loudly, “Don’t care.” Miss. Clouford turned around.
“Do you have something to say, Ms. Parkinson?” She asked, with a hint of annoyance in her voice.
“No, sorry.” She grunted. I looked back at Sebastian who was smirking at Alaska. I have to set the two of them up. I turned back to Alaska who was grumbling under her breath. I looked down at my notebook and continued writing the notes Miss. Clouford was writing on the chalkboard. After a few minutes of silence, someone spoke; the teacher insert groan here.
“Alright class, if I could have your attention.” Miss. Clouford announced. “Since you have all finished your last assignments that were in pairs, this semester, you are going to be working on an assignment.” The class groaned. Dean must have handed in our assignment, I better not have failed. He is so dead! Did I even do anything? Miss. Clouford frowned by continued. “You will be working in small groups of four to six…” She paused, while half the class let out a cheer. “That I have assigned you into.” The class groaned for the second time within a small span of twenty seconds. “Quiet!” She barked as the class quieted down. “Each group will the given a different topic to base it on, but the whole class will have the theme of romance. Now for the groups…” I waited for my name to be called out. “And finally; Jenna Brown, Sebastian Collins, Bryce Jones and Olivia Mills. When Dean Ralph comes back, he will join your group.” Miss. Clouford smiled cheerfully. Alaska’s hand shot up, not hearing her name. Miss. Clouford motioned for her to speak.
“You didn’t call out my name, Alaska Parkinson. I’m new.” She muttered. Miss. Clouford blinked a few times but finally sighed, “Alright. You can go with Jenna and her group.” Ally’s face lit up and she smiled at me. She obviously didn’t remember that Sebastian was in group. We both got up and walked to the corner that Miss. Clouford told us to gather. Sebastian, Bryce and Olivia were already sitting down. Alaska stopped when she saw Sebastian.
“What are you doing here?” She hissed. I looked over at Sebastian who was grinning from ear to ear.
“Ah, my love, I’m in this united group of ours.” He got up and held out his hand. “Care to join us?” Alaska snorted before pushing past him and taking his seat. Sebastian just shrugged before sitting next Olivia, opposite of Ally. I sat down next to her, before studying the people in our group. Bryce was the quiet boy in our group. He had messy brown hair and dark, emerald eyes. His body was strong and masculine and his skin was tanned. He sat in between Alaska and Olivia. Olivia has scarlet-red hair and beautiful, bright-green eyes. Her skin was pale, and her figure was tall and lean. She was known to be outgoing and was the schools best public speaker, which is why I wasn’t surprised when she took control of the group.
“Alright people. Lets go round in a circle and introduce ourselves.” She smiled, flashing shiny braces. “I’m Olivia Mills.” She looked Bryce, and nodded for him to go next.
“Bryce Jones.” He put his head down again, fiddling with his thumbs again.
“I’m Alaska Parkinson.” Alaska spoke brightly. She blushed when Sebastian looked at her. I decided it was time for me to save her, a little, from embarrassment.
“I’m Jenna Brown, and I’m her friend.” I pointed to Alaska, before continuing. “And I think we should get over the introductions and find out our topic.” The rest of the group nodded except Sebastian. We all stood up and turned to Miss. Clouford’s desk.
“But I…” He started before I cut him off. “Yes, we all know who you are, Snert.” The rest of the group laughed, even Bryce. Sebastian stood up and strolled behind us, defeated. Alaska looked at me and mouthed ‘thank-you’. I knew it was going to kick me in the ass later but, hey! What are friends for right?
“Miss. Clouford.” Olivia started as our teacher looked up from her 80’s glasses. “We were wondering what our topic was?”
“Ah, yes.” Miss. Clouford replied. “You topic is… High School. So you will be doing High School, based around romance.” Our group studied her questionably. “Go on, scoot.” She ushered us away.
We all sat back down in our seats, trying to come up with ideas. When we all though we were doomed, Bryce spoke up. “I have an idea.” He said quietly. We all looked at him, hopefully. “I know that our topic is High School, and Romance, so I thought that we could take Polaroid pictures of us in couples – when Dean gets back too, and have them hanging off a small Bonsai Tree?” We all looked at him as if he’d just created the next best thing since sliced bread.
“Bryce! You are a freaking genius!” I exclaimed. The rest of the group nodded stupidly in agreement, even Sebastian. I looked at Sebastian quickly, noticing he was smirking. Then he spoke up. “Sounds great, Bryce. I have a camera that produces Polaroid pictures…” He was cut off when Miss. Clouford walked over to us, smiling. Does she ever stop smiling? She spoke, “I just got a call from the Headmaster, and Dean will be back at school tomorrow! Isn’t that great?” We all looked at her, but I wasn’t smiling like the rest of the group, I was practically shitting myself. I thought things couldn’t get any worse when Sebastian continued with what he was saying before, “That’s perfect. I can bring my camera in tomorrow and we will have six people, which means there will be three couples. Bryce and Olivia can go together, Jenna and Dean and I’ll go with Alaska.” Everyone in the group was blushing except Sebastian who was smiling from ear to ear. I realised that he had seen who liked who, and was trying to set people up. Maybe he’s not a snert… I looked at Alaska, who was blushing with her hand over her mouth. Then the bell rang. “Well, see you all tomorrow people!” Sebastian teased before walking with the rest of his group. Everyone else got up and we all bumped into each other and apologized.
Alaska shot out of the room and followed close behind. She went straight to the female bathroom. When I came in, I realised that Alaska was against the door, locking it. I stared at her questionably. Her face was going pale, then back to the beetroot colour it as before.
“You okay, Ally?” I asked, with concern. I realised we were missing out next class, which was French and Robbie was in the French class. The sacrifices I make for a friend… I sighed.
“Fine.” She said in a tight voice, almost squeaking. I tilted my head.
“That’s why you locked the bathroom door and are hyper-ventilating.” I stated smugly. “I thought you said that you ‘didn’t care’”
“I don’t!” She protested before breathing out hard. “Okay, so I do. I’ve just never… well, never been around boys that much. The only boy I have ever really been around is Robbie.” She was breathing hard now, but at least she wasn’t hyper-ventilating. I walked over to her and put an arm around her shoulder.
“Ally, Don’t worry. But you do need some lessons on how to talk to them. Rule number one; don’t try insulting them.” She smiled sheepishly and commented “He is a snert.” I laughed.
“Maybe so, but doesn’t mean you have to tell him that. Flirt with him, be suggestive.” I winked. I realised I was one to be giving advice but it was better than her having no-one to talk to. She raised her eyebrows and I just shrugged. She didn’t say anything, so I sighed for the millionth time today. “Come on, let’s head out and grab a coffee.” I suggested.
“But what about class?” She insisted.
“We have already missed the first half, why go to the second. We will only get yelled at.” She laughed as we headed out of the school grounds and headed to Gloria Jeans in my car.
When we got there, we talked for another hour before I dropped her home. Robbie was in lounge room and saw us walk in and stood up. He was wearing his pyjamas which had flowers and butterflies on them. I raise my eyebrow, a move I practiced in the mirror for years. Even gay guys don’t wear three year olds clothes. He shrugged before asking, “Where have you two been? Jen, you weren’t in French.” Ally and I looked at each before answering in unison, “We skipped.” I finished it off, “We need to talk about some… girl stuff.” Robbie sighed. I looked down at my watch and saw the time. It was four o’clock. I remembered that I promised myself that I would see Dean. I edged toward the door and came up with a lame excuse that my parents wanted me home. I said my good-byes to my new best friends and headed off to Deans hospital.
