What You Are

I saw you today and I noticed the changes.

The piercing on your lip, the new tattoo on your arm.

You’re changing and I’m not sure that I can take anymore.

Maybe I should let you go cause I don’t like what I see so I say…

“You’re gonna shut up and let me speak

I’m letting you know what you are.

If all you’re needing,

Is a change in your life.

Then your change can be losing me.”

You keep on talking, bragging about the new you.

I can’t stand it, the new you needs to go.

You talk about changing your hair, dying it black.

You say this new you is better but baby I don’t agree so I say…

“You’re gonna shut up and let me speak

I’ll let you know what you are.

If all you’re needing,

Is a change in your life.

Then your change can be losing me.”

The next day you come with your hair changed.

It’s as black as night, just like your new clothes.

This blackness sucks all the happiness out of us,

The way you talk, is as if you’re always depressed.

When really, I know it’s all an act so I say…

“You’re gonna shut up and let me speak

I’m letting you know what you are.

If all you’re needing,

Is a change in your life.

Then your change can be losing me.”

I can no longer see the real you.

Let’s take a time out,

Cause you changed your face,

Into a person that I don’t know.

These changes have pushed me over the edge.

I can’t take it anymore so I scream,

“You’re gonna shut up and let me speak

I’m letting you know what you are.

If all you’re needing,

Is a change in your life.

Then your change can be losing me.”

A/N: This song isn't about my own life or experiences... but a possiblity.

Most humans hate changes and this is just a small sample of what could happen.
